Position Overview

As part of the Support and Service Division at Safran Aircraft Engines, the Sales Forecasting Department plays a pivotal role in predicting the demand for spare parts associated with civil engine programs. This department is essential to the organization's revenue generation efforts, serving as a critical link between various internal sectors, including Programs, Maintenance and Repair, Technical, Marketing, Industrial Management, and After-sales/Commercial.

The primary objective is to model and predict the purchasing requirements of clients, such as airlines and engine maintenance facilities, for a range of spare parts. This proactive approach ensures that Production and Supply Chain operations can efficiently manufacture and deliver components to clients, thereby mitigating the risk of penalties, customer dissatisfaction, and lost sales that could adversely affect the financial performance of the organization.

The analyst is tasked with developing sales forecasts for their designated parts portfolio:

  • Formulates a forecasting strategy tailored for groups of parts.
  • Executes the strategy and assesses outcomes against historical sales for validation.
  • Evaluates alerts produced by forecasting models, monitors discrepancies between projected and actual sales, and fine-tunes the model and forecasts as necessary.
  • Collaborates with teams engaged in forecasting spare parts sales at GE Aviation (as part of the CFM partnership) and shares insights, methodologies, and best practices with other Safran teams.
  • Communicates and elucidates significant variances, offering insights to industrial management regarding potential risks and opportunities.

The analyst also monitors and interprets spare parts sales by client across their CFM56 parts portfolio:

  • Engages with various departments to gather insights into sales dynamics: CFM program, sales teams, aftermarket engineering, repair teams, service contract managers, etc.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with clients (CFM engine repair facilities) to collect analyses and forecasts regarding their operations and spare parts usage.

Additionally, the analyst contributes to the enhancement of departmental processes by:

  • Supporting the ongoing improvement of forecasting process automation and digitization: participating in the deployment of new software (Dataiku) and employing innovative methodologies such as Machine Learning for forecasting.
  • Introducing new models and techniques to capture customer information more effectively, thereby improving reliability and stability metrics.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • A keen interest in analyzing and comprehending customer behavior, along with technical and industrial constraints.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn data analysis and visualization techniques. Familiarity with tools like Dataiku and PowerBI is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a focus on accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Competence in office software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Specifics

Occasional travel may be required to engage with clients for discussions related to spare parts sales and forecasts.
