Position Overview
We are in search of a proficient HVAC Construction Lead to oversee and direct HVAC construction initiatives for a significant nuclear new build endeavor. This position demands a wealth of experience in managing large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, particularly utilizing a staged gate/RIBA methodology on brownfield sites. The ideal candidate will collaborate extensively with other construction discipline leads, the Client, and design partners to ensure the effective delivery of HVAC systems that adhere to the rigorous standards of the nuclear industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership in Construction
- Direct HVAC construction operations, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and adherence to safety and quality benchmarks.
- Engage closely with other discipline leads to guarantee the seamless integration of HVAC systems with all project elements.
- Project Management
- Supervise the planning, coordination, and execution of HVAC construction tasks, ensuring completion within the established timeframe and budget while maintaining high standards.
- Implement and oversee the HVAC construction process utilizing a staged gate/RIBA approach, confirming that each phase meets requisite criteria before advancement.
- Collaboration and Coordination
- Work collaboratively with the Client, design partners, and stakeholders to ensure HVAC systems are designed and constructed in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Foster strong relationships with all project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Regulatory Adherence
- Ensure compliance of all HVAC construction activities with nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Engage with regulatory authorities and external bodies as necessary to secure compliance and obtain required approvals.
- Risk Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage risks associated with HVAC construction activities, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and reviews, adjusting plans as needed to meet project goals.
- Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of HVAC construction professionals, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Provide guidance and resources to team members, ensuring they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
- Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain stringent quality control processes to ensure all HVAC construction activities meet or exceed industry standards.
- Conduct routine inspections, tests, and audits to verify compliance with quality and safety requirements.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
- Promote a robust safety culture, ensuring that all HVAC construction activities prioritize personnel health and safety as well as environmental protection.
- Ensure adherence to all HSE policies and procedures, leading incident investigations when necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of HVAC construction activities, including progress reports, test results, and regulatory submissions.
- Provide regular updates to senior management and project stakeholders regarding construction progress, key milestones, and any issues requiring attention.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Certified HVAC Designer) is advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years in HVAC construction within the nuclear or energy sectors, demonstrating a successful track record in new build EPC projects, particularly on brownfield sites.
