Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Manager will lead a diverse team, overseeing detailed engineering tasks, monitoring equipment production, and implementing subcontracting strategies. This role involves tracking contractor schedules and progress while providing comprehensive project status reports to upper management. A strong emphasis will be placed on promoting a safety-first culture throughout all project phases and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards.
The Senior Project Manager will ensure project execution aligns with contractual obligations, keeping the project team informed about relevant contractual elements. Attention will be given to risk and opportunity analysis, maintaining accurate and current information, and monitoring project timelines and costs to meet the expectations of stakeholders.
Work Relationships:
Reporting to the VP of Projects Execution, the Senior Project Manager will directly supervise key roles including Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Procurement Managers, and Construction Managers assigned to the project.
Collaboration will occur with various teams within Balazs, including Operations, Project Control, and Procurement, as well as external partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Essential Duties:
The successful candidate will represent business interests in the execution of large-scale projects, typically ranging from $200 million to $750 million. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting project and business development teams in identifying and planning project solutions to enhance competitiveness.
- Planning project execution in accordance with industry best practices and company procedures.
- Leading a multinational project execution team.
- Participating in engineering review meetings at various international locations.
- Maintaining a comprehensive project risk register and actively managing identified risks.
- Engaging in negotiations and execution of contracts related to engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Implementing tracking and reporting mechanisms to communicate project status effectively.
- Working with regulatory authorities to secure necessary permits and licenses.
- Overseeing the construction team and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Driving a culture of teamwork across operations, engineering, and project delivery teams.
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards and proper construction techniques.
- Preparing monthly project reports in compliance with company processes.
- Monitoring safety performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Senior Project Manager position should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 15-20 years of experience in engineering, project management, or construction within an EPC environment.
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
- Excellent communication abilities across various organizational levels.
- A demonstrated capacity to mentor and develop project managers.
- The ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
- Fluency in multiple languages is advantageous.
