Job Title: Lead Civil Engineer

Altrad is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join our team in Glasgow, Scotland. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading multi-discipline engineering teams and supporting the DIO Project Manager in the management of consultant and contractor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Support the DIO Project Manager in the management of consultant and contractor relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work closely with the BIM/CAD team to ensure seamless integration of engineering designs and construction activities.
  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder requirements, and develop user/system requirements to meet these needs.
  • Elicitation and development of user/system requirements, and development of work scopes to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Manage engineering support to the projects, including technical assessment/approval of contractors' work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
  • Support the project optioneering process, and review and accept project drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Manage detailed design activities in accordance with HMNB (Clyde) standards, and provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors' work instruction/method statements/risk assessments, and specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning.
  • Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout the project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments, and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality on Site.
  • Chair meetings and design reviews, and prepare and deliver engineering presentations to stakeholders.
  • Respond to technical queries and resolve engineering problems in a timely and effective manner.

Project Interfaces:

  • Framework contractors.
  • Consultant design team.
  • Site stakeholders.
  • Original equipment manufacturers.
  • DIO project management, commercial, cost, project controls, risk.

Qualification, Special Skills or Experience:

  • Qualification to degree level in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or able to attain chartered status (demonstration of continued professional development).
  • Experience in the following:
  • Project engineering of work packages, including site implementation/integration, within a highly regulated environment.
  • Working fully autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Compliance with legislation and standards in a highly regulated industry.
  • Producing technical documentation, e.g., technical reports, specifications, technical queries, etc.
  • Liaison with a range of stakeholders.
  • Basic health and safety training for site visits.
  • Nuclear safety case (desirably).
