Role Overview

As a pivotal member of the SCOR team, you will engage in the comprehensive annual performance evaluation process globally for the SCOR Business Solutions (SBS) portfolios. Your analytical expertise will support the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of SBS and the Head of SBS by crafting analytics that monitor performance, conducting market research, and executing benchmarking studies to uncover potential opportunities.

Underwriting Plan for P&C

In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Underwriting Planning and Forecasting, playing a crucial part in the SCOR P&C business. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the coordination of the Underwriting Plan process, encompassing data management, procedural oversight, tool development, reporting, and timeline adherence for SCOR P&C.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the Underwriting Plan tool by ensuring it meets specific business requirements during its design and implementation phases.
  • Defining business specifications for the tool in collaboration with the Analytical Development and Analytical Data teams, with a strong emphasis on data integrity.
  • Ensuring compliance of the P&C Underwriting Plan with the Group's updated processes, including the Strategic Plan, High-level Plan, Reforecasting, and Syndicate's SBF and SBD deliverables, while maintaining a consistent methodology across all business units.
  • Aligning the business planning (underwriting plan) with performance monitoring metrics (technical metrics, IFRS 17 metrics) and financial planning (operating plan) as defined by the Finance department.

Business Insights and Analytical Support

Under the guidance of the Head of Underwriting Planning and Forecasting, you will also:

  • Support the global annual performance analysis for the SBS (Single Risk) portfolios.
  • Contribute to the quarterly performance evaluations of the SBS and Syndicate business.
  • Provide analytical insights to identify deviations from planned outcomes, trends, and performance drivers.
  • Assist the CUO SBS and Head of SBS by developing analytics that monitor performance and conducting market studies and benchmarking exercises to identify opportunities.
  • Help establish a unified source of truth for all business performance metrics for the P&C CEO, CUO, and P&C Management.
  • Support the Underwriting functions with necessary information for regulatory compliance, internal processes, marketing initiatives, and reporting to reinsurers/retrocessionaires.

Contribution to Analytical Tools and Data Integrity

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Head of Underwriting Planning and Forecasting to standardize planning and renewal processes across P&C business divisions and various regions.
  • Enhancing the analytical toolkit and methodologies used to evaluate and manage P&C business performance through consistent dashboards and aggregation tools.
  • Ensuring that underwriting data is suitable for analysis.
  • Improving data accuracy and process efficiency by automating processes where feasible and exploring technological solutions.

Required Experience & Competencies

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, particularly in a technical role (actuarial, modeling, or underwriting support) is essential.
  • An actuarial background is preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strategic thinking and the ability to synthesize and present information effectively.
  • Proficiency in IT skills, including programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, or R) is advantageous.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
  • A collaborative team player with the capability to build networks internally and externally.

Required Education

  • A highly skilled technical professional with a quantitative background (e.g., Bachelor/Master of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, etc.) is sought.
  • Data science or actuarial qualifications are significant assets.
  • Additional studies related to insurance or finance are desirable.
