To support space exploration, we collaborate with space agencies and private enterprises, providing bio-farming units designed for efficient food production for astronauts and conducting research on the effects of microgravity on plant molecular structures.
Position OverviewAs we accelerate our growth with the deployment of our inaugural BioPod factory and the industrialization of our products, we are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our engineering team. In the role of Senior Structural Engineering Specialist, you will be tasked with the design, analysis, and oversight of the construction of inflatable structures integral to our BioPods and BioFarming solutions. Your responsibilities will include ensuring safety, durability, and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive designs for pneumatic structures, ensuring they fulfill performance, safety, and aesthetic criteria.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and specialized engineering tools to create detailed 3D models and structural specifications for assembly.
- Conduct structural analysis (FEA) and simulations (CFD) to validate the stability and integrity of inflatable structures under various conditions.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure all designs and products comply with local, national, and international building codes and regulations.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of pneumatic structure projects, from initial concept through to completion.
- Identify and supervise subcontractors and manufacturers to achieve optimal product quality in terms of craftsmanship, cost, and engineering.
- Conduct assembly line inspections and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Stay informed about the latest industry trends, materials, and advancements in inflatable structure engineering.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and durability of inflatable structures.
- Identify and resolve any structural issues or deficiencies during the assembly phase.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in structural engineering within a production environment, with a focus on inflatable structures.
- Demonstrated success in managing and completing inflatable structure projects.
- Proficient in DfMA 3D modeling on CAD platforms/software.
- Ability to generate FEA and CFD models of inflatable structures (SIMULIA).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Fluency in both French and English is required.
- Versatile mindset with the ability to transition between design, documentation, and inspection phases.
- Proven experience in designing built inflatable structures.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous, and demanding environment.
