Role Overview

The Group Corporate Development (GCD) team plays a crucial role in assisting AXA's senior management in shaping the company's strategy, overseeing its execution, and exploring business development initiatives as needed.

As a Strategic Initiatives Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Strategy Execution and the Head of Strategy Definition to report on the implementation of our strategic objectives through targeted reviews that facilitate informed decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing documentation for the annual Strategic Board of AXA Board of Directors.
  • Evaluating the Strategic Plans of Operating Entities and ensuring alignment with the Group strategy.
  • Conducting strategic reviews or studies as requested by senior management.
  • Monitoring key insurance trends and competitor strategies.
  • Assessing potential inorganic growth opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions.

Context & Challenges

The Strategic Initiatives Manager operates within a complex managerial landscape, necessitating effective communication with high-profile stakeholders. You will need to exhibit strong technical expertise, business insight, and interpersonal skills to foster trust and achieve GCD's objectives. Key challenges include:

  • Leading cross-functional processes with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Engaging regularly with key executives and occasionally with senior leaders to ensure the successful execution of strategic projects.
  • Preparing high-quality documentation for the Group Management Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Critically assessing the business objectives of Operating Entities and identifying strategic challenges.
  • Developing clear narratives and recommendations for senior management to aid decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Annual Strategic Board Preparation : Responsible for defining the agenda, preparing documentation, and coordinating processes with senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic Plan Review : Conducting strategic business reviews and performance assessments in collaboration with Group HR and Finance.
  • Ad Hoc Strategic Reviews : Contributing to project framing, conducting analyses, and formulating recommendations for management.
  • Market Monitoring : Preparing competitive reviews and documentation for the Group Management Committee.
  • Inorganic Growth Assessment : Evaluating potential opportunities and leading corporate development initiatives.
