You will bridge the gap between data engineering and business analytics by leading complex transformations, optimizing data infrastructure, and ensuring enterprise-wide data quality and accessibility. Leveraging your advanced expertise in data modelling, transformation, and governance, you will establish best practices and drive strategic initiatives that elevate data capabilities across GDI. You will partner closely with data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and senior business stakeholders to influence and shape key decisions.Responsibilities:Lead the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable, and reliable data models using dbt and SQL, transforming complex raw data into clean, business-ready datasets that directly support enterprise-level decision-making;Proactively engage with business stakeholders and business analysts to anticipate evolving data requirements, translating business objectives into advanced technical solutions with minimal guidance;Comply with and enforce organization-wide data quality frameworks, governance standards, and documentation practices to ensure trust, consistency, and transparency in mission-critical data assets;Oversee the development and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data from diverse internal and external sources, ensuring seamless transitions across technology platforms (e.g., SQL Server to Snowflake);Optimize data models and queries for scalability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and BigQuery;Enable self-service analytics by delivering intuitive, well-documented semantic layers and curated datasets in Snowflake and Sigma that empower teams-including dDigital mMarketing, fFinance, and sSales oOperations-to access and leverage trusted data independently;Maintain and evolve comprehensive, enterprise-level documentation of data models, transformation logic, and data definitions to foster cross-team knowledge sharing and a data-literate culture;Act as a thought leader by evaluating emerging technologies, championing new tools, and recommending forward-looking strategies to strengthen the organization's data ecosystem;Mentor junior team members, sharing expertise and establishing standards for analytics engineering practices across the team.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field;5+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or analytics engineering roles, with a proven track record of increasing scope and ownership;Advanced expertise in SQL and data modelling concepts (schemas, CTEs, macros, etc.);Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformations and modelling;Proficiency with Snowflake and BigQuery;Experience with BI tools, such as Power BI and Sigma;Strong understanding of ETL/ELT development, data integration, and API data ingestion;Demonstrated ability to optimize data models and pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency at scale;Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a strong attention to detail and passion for data quality;Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders;Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD processes for data pipeline management;Experience in retail or E-commerce industries is an asset.At GDI, you will be part of a growing organization that understands the importance of investing in people and offers you:A comprehensive compensation package that includes performance-driven bonuses;A group retirement savings program with employer matching;Flexible group insurance with personalized coverage that meets your needs;An employee discount at Garage and Dynamite;Exclusive private sample sales;A flexible vacation policy;And moreGDI has been repeatedly voted one of Montréal's Top Employers and one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People.Our promise...No day will be like the last-we aim to be better today than we were yesterday.
