The Genomics, Bioinformatics and Molecular Chemistry Laboratory of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (EA 7528) develops complementary research axes to better understand diseases and contribute to the development of diagnostic or therapeutic approaches.
The genomics axis uses and develops bioinformatics tools to exploit human genomic data to better understand the molecular mechanisms of diseases (AIDS, hepatitis C, psychiatric disorders, aging) and identify potential protein targets. The structural bioinformatics part models protein-protein or protein-small molecule interactions, and develops in silico screening methods. The molecular chemistry team uses its know-how in chemical synthesis to develop small molecules for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
The GBCM Laboratory benefits from several public (ANR, IUF, ERC) and private (Bill-et-Melind Foundation) funding.
**Description**:
Our group is actively involved in the development of a new and eco-friendly approach based on heterogeneous photocatalysis. With an innovative immobilization strategy, we are able to increase the reactivity and stability of photocatalysts and recycle them. This strategy can also be used in a continuous flow reactor. We are now developing new near-infrared photocatalysts that in combination with our immobilization strategy and continuous flow reactors, can enhance photocatalytic process and be more useful at laboratory and even in industrial scale.
During the internship, the objective will be to synthesize a family of near-infrared photocatalysts and evaluate their photocatalytic performance. Through this multidisciplinary course, the student will have the opportunity to master modern organic synthesis tools in line with the main principles of green chemistry. They will develop skills in organic chemistry, catalysis, photochemistry and continuous flow, which are essential areas in the organic chemistry R&D sector.
