Role Summary/Purpose
- Reporting to the Senior Executive Director - Sales, Offshore Wind (OFW), the **Global Commercial Operations leader** **will be responsible for development of winning proposals supporting the strong growth of a sustainable and profitable wind offshore business, with double digit operating margin and free cash flow generation.
- Leading the global Commercial team in our three regions, Europe, Asia and Americas, the job holder will be accountable for the quality and competitiveness of our proposals, including technology, financing, project execution and services activities for highly complex Offshore Wind generation projects.
- As the most senior leader of our commercial operation team, he/she will ensure full compliance to our risk review processes.
Essential Responsibilities
- The Global Commercial Operation Leader, OFW directs a functional area of a major business segment. Translates concepts, considers strategic options, develops tactics, and implements change. Creates programs responsive to external environment. Participates in cross-functional business and cultural development.
- Develop and drive bidding strategies, with a focus on agreed major utilities, local developers & IPPs; create processes to seek new/additional revenue opportunities; deal structuring of $1B+ sales opportunities each
- Responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the global commercial operation team; lead and motivate this team in order to drive growth and income.
- Develop a risk / reward view of deals, and obtain approvals needed in accordance to the GE OFW delegation of responsibility (DOR)
- Represents the commercial team in front of GE Offshore leadership
- Support operating planning and forecasting; execute on assigned operating plan to assure that business achieves growth, orders and cash targets
- Identify, qualify and develop opportunities driving growth and set up a consistent orders management plan, including proposals and customer requests
- Build influential relationships with other function leaders (engineering, risk, project management, services, product line), and customers at all levels
- Direct major cross functional campaigns
- Identify, develop and leverage financial constructs to support strategic bids
- Prioritize team activity and manage workload
- Use Salesforce to track and update opportunities pipeline
- Personally lead key negotiations as needed to close deals
- Proficient at developing differentiated tax credit strategies where applicable
- Align customer requirements and business risk & financial profiles
- Demonstrate domain expertise and exceptional networking and communication skills.
- Provide Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to the Strategic Marketing and Product Line teams
- Participate in quality initiatives within ITO to drive process rigor, NPS, and other improvements in the overall ITO process Partner with Product Line and Commercial Operations to drive revenue and contribution margin growth in services
- Lead and develop a culture supportive of the key principles of Humility, Transparency & Delivering with Focus, ensuring effective communication across the organization, engaging with colleagues at all levels to ensure understanding and alignment with goals. Provide leadership development and performance feedback to team members, coach and mentor across the organization.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Degree-calibre individual with a proven track record in bidding, risk analysis, negotiating and closing significant value equipment sales contracts.
- Wind market knowledge and relevant expertise in Power Generation and/or Offshore Wind industry, with demonstrated sales and leadership skills & capabilities, including significant experience building C-level relationships in the Energy industry and negotiating/closing large & complex deals
- Technical proficiency in (wind) turbine technology and execution plan development
Desired Characteristics
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred
- Significant experience in Commercial roles, at executive Level
