**Context**
- Nexans has initiated a major strategic shift from a cable generalist to a pure electrification player all along the value chain, from generation to usage through transport and distribution. In particular, Nexans will further enhance its leading positioning in interconnexions and offshore wind farm connections by delivering full solutions and cutting edge technologies. In Power Distribution and Building, Nexans will further develop its position from cable and accessories producer to delivering solutions for the management for the grid (growth, replacement, smart exploitation, asset management).- In line with this strategy, Nexans reinforces its innovation & R&D and sets up an Electrical engineering department in the Corporate Research technocenter,- The electrical engineering department is working with the building design lab, grid design lab, electrical lab, the FabLab and the HV technocenter, based in Norway.- The electrical engineering department is gathering (i) MV/HV dielectric materials development team, (ii) electrical test lab, (iii) some new offer project leaders.**Purpose**
- The purpose of this job is to reinforce the electrical test lab team in the electrical engineering department, by developing and mastering new key cable system technology to make Nexans a leading player in the value chain of Power transmission, distribution and usages.- To do so, an electrical engineer expert with a strong expertise in network calculation, power electronics and thermo-electrical modeling is needed to design, test and prototype innovative cable system and sensors for DC and AC grids. Its role is to increase Nexans knowledge in all the value chain of electrification.- The electrical engineer activities will address all the value chain of electrification:
**Generation/transmission**: With the increase of interconnections and offshore windfarms, one of the main challenge regarding HVDC cable systems will be to transport more and more power. Thus, these cable system must be perfect in a very long length.- In this context, in deep collaboration with the Nexans plants producing and testing HV submarine and underground cables systems, the engineer will increase the knowledge regarding the electrical properties of these cable systems in order to master the performance of such cables systems. Its work will include both electrical assessment and modelling of cable systems under HVDC to predict their electrical performance.- This modelling activities will contribute to the knowledge increase in the HVDC field, the support for new material qualification and the increase of the electrical performance and the reliability of such cable system.**Distribution**:Cable systems in the distribution grid have the challenges of being more reliable and more sustainable. The engineer will collaborate with grid Design lab and with the research techno center, to setup and develop innovative cable system for MV AC and DC grid and to develop innovative sensor for the monitoring of cable system in the MV grid. Its work will include the development and tuning of MV cables and accessories through electrical measurement and simulation, implementation of new monitoring system in cable system and electrical assessment of cable system ageing states for asset management**Usage**:For the objective of a decarbonized electrification, development of LVDC grid technology is key. Thus the engineer will participate of the LVDC new grid development. It will include simulating and designing technical architecture, benchmarking of existing solution and optimizing cable systems to make it more reliable and more sustainable for the use in LVDC electrical grids and buildings.**Required skills, know how & experience**
