Lab Technician in Virology

Job Description Summary

Within the virology department, the team is in charge of carrying out experiments that contribute to the initiation, monitoring and progress of projects in research and development of antiviral molecules.

Under a 12-month fixed term contract, we are recruiting one: VIROLOGY LABORATORY TECHNICIAN H/F. Your missions will be the conduction and analysis of experimental protocols of _in vitro_ models (in infected and non-infected conditions) required for the progress of projects. Using your knowledge and skills, you will also have to participate in the technical and technological development of our antiviral platforms as well as in laboratory management in connection with the other teams to ensure the smooth running of the activities.

Job Description

Reporting to the Team Manager, your main missions will be to:
- Follow experimental protocols of _in vitro_ models on cell lines, primary cultures, in infected and non-infected condition, required for the progress of projects.- Participate in the evaluation of the antiviral effect of products in infected cells in biosafety level 3 laboratories-
- Work as a team and coordinate with collaborators for the use of equipment and experiments- Participate in the elaboration of protocols and ensure the follow-up of experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks- Plan the assays and prepare/order reagents and consumables needed for experiments.- Take on all or part of the analysis of results- Report on the progress of experiments and experimental results- Ensure the reliability, quality and traceability of experimental results- Participate in the laboratory management: order for common stock, monitoring laboratory supply, equipment maintenance, logistics and maintenance of equipment, health & safety, environment...

Knowledge, skills and abilities- Handling in BSL2 and BSL3 laboratory- Infection and antiviral assays on immortalized cell lines or primary cell cultures- Production and titration of virus- Culture and generation of cell lines (HEK293, hepatocytes ) and primary hepatocytes cells- Biochemistry and cellular biology (Elisa, transfection, luciferase activity tests)- Molecular biology (DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, Southern/Northern blot, Western blot, Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), immunoprecipitation )- Ability to receive complex instructions and deal with issues requiring high level of technical expertise- Ability to conduct several tasks in parallel- Ability to identify and solve technical issues- Computer skills : Office suite, software for analysis and layout- Autonomy, organization, team spirit- Ability to communicate (team meeting, group meeting)- Ability to read scientific English- Adaptability to adapt to change

Experience and education

+2/3/4 years university degree in virology, cellular biology or equivalent

A first experience in virology is strongly recommended and ability to work in BSL3 is required.

Rattaché(e) au Manager de l’équipe, vos missions principales seront de:
- Suivre des protocoles expérimentaux des modèles _in vitro_ sur lignées cellulaires, cultures primaires, en condition infectée et non-infectée, nécessaires à l’avancement des projets.- Participer à l’évaluation de l’effet antiviral des produits sur cellules infectées réalisée dans nos laboratoires de niveau de sécurité biologique 3- Participer à l’évaluation des mécanismes d’action des antiviraux en appliquant des technologies innovantes ciblées- Travailler en équipe et se coordonner avec des collaborateurs pour l’utilisation du matériel et la réalisation d’expériences- Participer à la rédaction des protocoles et tenir à jour le suivi des expériences dans les cahiers de laboratoires électroniques- Planifier les essais et préparer/commander les réactifs, consommables nécessaires aux expériences.- Prendre en charge tout ou partie de l’analyse de résultats- Rendre compte du déroulement des expériences et d
