**Summary**

The embedded software engineer / architect will be part of the RMC SRPC Engineering firmware team and he/she will work on a range of RMC tools development projects.

**Description**

The scope of work of this SRMC Engineering cross-functional team is to develop and industrialize Embedded Software for downhole tools.

Those tools operate in harsh environments exposed to high temperature, with limited connection bandwidth with surface and important constraints on the hardware selection for robustness to shock and vibrations. The equipment typically triggers sensors, takes measurements, post-process the data, records it in memory, communicates through telemetry with surface and by the addition of all those features delivers a service to our clients.

The digital systems are at the core of this downhole equipment and the Embedded Software Engineer role is to fully industrialize this digital part. The Engineer develops the missing software functionalities of the digital system with the objective of producing high quality code and documentation to help the project team achieve the tool commercialization. He/She is also in charge of the Embedded Software test strategy.

The engineer is in charge of the optimized implementation of the new telemetry and attachment protocol on Arm Cortex-M processors for a downhole tool to be used for Reservoir Monitoring in the Oil and Gas Industry. The development should be fully tested at system level.

He/She will work in collaboration with the other members of the project team (mostly Electrical Engineers).

**Essential Responsibilities and Main Duties**
- Implement the new telemetry
- Implement dedicated attachment protocol
- Develop tests for validation and related setup
- Interact with, Electrical Engineers, other firmware engineers and software engineers to define common tests & validation

**Competencies, Education and key Skills**
- MSc (Master of Science) in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or a closely related field of study such as MS Specialized Master
- C language development
- Git / Microsoft DevOps
- Strong knowledge of telemetry
- Nice to have: Development on Arm Cortex-M processors (SAM D21 & STM32)

**Desired level of experience**:

- 5 years minimum of relevant industry experience, more experienced engineers may be considered
