Breeding Support Scientist

**Limagrain Field Seeds Research** is looking for a **Pulse Breeding Support Scientist** to join the **CAPS team (Cereals And Pulses Support team)** at our **Research Center in Chappes (63), France**.

The **CAPS team** is responsible for developing and implementing **advanced and innovative tools and methods** to optimize the efficiency of cereal breeding programs. Our missions rely on a wide range of expertise, including **pathology, native traits, major gene identification, molecular markers, genetic material analysis, breeding strategies, molecular breeding**, and more. The team collaborates closely with **cereal breeders** as well as the **Traits and Technologies Department**.

In this role, you will act as an **expert in molecular breeding** within a **global environment** and actively contribute to **scientific discussions** within the Limagrain Group, particularly within the **cereal breeding community**.

You will report directly to the **CAPS team manager**.

**Main Goal**:
**Your Main Responsibilities Will Include**:

- Defining Goals & Strategy: in close collaboration with the CAPS team manager, you will define short-, medium-, and long-term objectives for molecular breeding activities and key research projects.
- Technical Leadership in Molecular Projects: act as the technical lead for molecular projects, ensuring coordination between breeders, the molecular markers laboratory, and the cereal and legume support team. Organize regular meetings to identify gaps in molecular breeding tools and trait mapping within the cereal and legume breeding community.
- Coordination of Molecular Data Utilization: oversee all activities related to the use of molecular data within the cereal breeding organization. Serve as the key interface between breeders and teams developing new molecular tools to optimize their use and ensure continuous improvements.
- Community Engagement & Promotion: actively promote the CAPS team and its activities, fostering collaborative projects between CAPS and breeding teams, and facilitating the molecular breeding community’s engagement.
- Statistical Analysis & Optimization: conduct statistical studies and analyses to enhance the efficiency of molecular marker utilization.
- Innovation & Method Development: drive innovation by testing, developing, and implementing new methodologies aligned with breeders’ needs.
- External Research Collaboration: work closely with key external research organizations to advance molecular breeding techniques.
- Scientific Knowledge Sharing: organize scientific exchanges, workshops, and interactive sessions within the cereal and legume breeding community, promoting best practices and facilitating the emergence of innovative methods.
- Coordination of Pathology-Related Activities in Pulses: oversee all activities related to legume pathology within the cereal breeding organization. Serve as the interface between breeders and pathology experts, ensuring effective project follow-up and execution.

- Strong knowledge and experience in applied research in plant genetics or plant breeding.

- Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate experiments across multiple projects, with the ability to effectively share results within the organization.
