**About the Department**

Bonhams Fine Wine Department provides a global platform for finding, buying and selling some of the finest and rarest wines in the world. Our wine auctions have the widest global profile of all auction houses, with offices and specialists in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Sweden and Hong Kong. We accept consignments from all over the world, stored in our insured, temperate and humidity controlled warehouses.

Our specialists inspect each bottle of wine sold and taste extensively with consignors to understand the provenance, history and lifespan of the wines we sell. Our team has over two centuries of combined experience valuing, tasting and preparing fine wines for sale and this, along with our extensive and active bidding base, allows us to set numerous auction records each year.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**

Sourcing & Expertise:

- Sourcing, researching, pricing and cataloguing items for the European Wines sales (live, online and collections).
- Work closely with the Head of Sale and Global Head of wines on strategies to drive new business opportunities for the department
- Maintain and support the ongoing development of a database of customers - both buyers and sellers - for the department and work with client development.
- Use personal relationships, tastings, dinners and all types of events (private & trade) to build an impressive and important network of private and trade clients who trust your knowledge and expertise and will do business with you on both the buy & sell sides
- Maintain contact with established collectors to encourage further business with the company, either as buyers or sellers
- Be a respected and trusted advisor on the wine market and use that experience with clients, press and on social media
- Maintain contact with established trade contacts to encourage further business with the company.
- Assist with sale preparation, condition reports, exhibition events and buyers “to sell the sale”.

Sale Production
- Liaise with the Head of Sale on the production of advertising and marketing campaign, within the budgets set, to promote the business getting and sales activities of the department
- To satisfactorily complete, as and when required, the valuation of customer’s property both in the office and at other venues within France.
- Inspecting and authenticating property, ensure that all photography is completed in a timely manner, researching and writing catalogue, Produce and manage appraisal and proposal coordination,
- Keep business getting spreadsheet updated to current status

Selling & Other
- Maintain an awareness of our competitor’s strategies to maintain the competitive position of this department in the market
- Consistently seek opportunities to promote and sell other Bonhams’ categories to own client base
- Look for innovative solutions to make our business better

**Key Skills and Experience**
- Knowledge of fine wines and of the Wine market, exposure to the auction market is a plus
- French and English fluent, an additional European language is a plus
- Good word processing skills, experience of Microsoft and Excel.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
- Meticulous and thorough
- Outgoing, social and personable character with a strong ability to network and convert social connections into business opportunities
- Understand and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity: protecting the Bonhams Wine & Spirits vision and brand equity while achieving short term sales goals
- Flexibility and the ability to be a team player.
- Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure and eager to travel
- Please note this role requires a significant amount of physical work moving cases of wines in our warehouse and private cellars
