**Context of the role**
Based in France and reporting directly to the Global Head of Compliance (Paris) and the Global Head of Regulatory Compliance (London), this role will lead the Compliance function for the cross border payment business in the European Economic Area (EEA) region. This role will also partner with its Compliance equivalent for the French payment acquisition business, as well as with Legal, Sales/Business Development and Product teams in London, New York City, Dubai and the rest of the world.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on an international stage, alongside household names, and join a rapidly growing FinTech company making a real impact on the lives of people in developed and emerging markets alike.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Builds and develops Compliance frameworks for the EEA markets including the creation of AML/CTF, Sanctions, and Anti-corruption/bribery programs policies in coordination with the global company policies
- Serves as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for the EEA region
- Handles the relationship with ACPR (Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution)
- Is the main point of contact with Tracfin (Déclarant)
- Is responsible for permanent control before competent authorities
- Is the point of interaction with relevant industry associations
- Scrutinizes and contributes to existing policies and test that they are robust, customer friendly and adequate under applicable regulations, by internal review and working with external reviewers and ensuring any audit findings are addressed
- Coordinates compliance needs to accompany the business expansion in Europe/EEA
- Assesses risks: AML/CTF, ABC, country, customer, product, regulatory, and own the risk assessment of these
- Builds a local Compliance team as the activity grows
- Communicates and trains relevant teams on compliance requirements
- Has a formal role in a regulated company, and therefore regularly interacts with Senior Management
- Sets up & manages compliance relationships with EEA banking partners
- Sets up & manages the relationships with (international and local) card schemes and alternative payment providers throughout the whole EEA
- Identify, track, and escalate regulatory risks throughout the acquisition business in the EEA
- Spends time working alongside the operational teams in London and New York City to reflect the French regulatory specificities in the Global Compliance Program
- Has willingness to excel and grow within the organization, at both regional and global level
**Skills/Qualifications**
- 5 years professional experience
- Demonstrated expertise in AML and regulatory compliance (CDD/KYC processes, EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions, ABC) in a financially regulated company
- Experience in building AML/CTF framework
- Experience working with international counterparts
- Clear written and verbal communicator in French and English, with experience of formal business communications in both languages.
- Able to support the development of new financial product and services
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills (e.g. with card schemes and competent authorities). Team management experience
- Sense of urgency/ability to work well under pressure, different priorities, and tight deadlines
- Previous experience within the payments industry, preferably in the acquisition of alternative payment methods
- University Degree in Law, Business or similar.
- Professional compliance qualification from an internationally recognized body (e.g. ICA, ACAMS etc) is not a must but would be considered a plus
