**Duties**:
The incumbent is the IT Manager solely responsible for the daily operations and analysis of the Consular information systems network. The incumbent fully supports all Consular operations (visas and passports) and is responsible for the Consular Network (LAN) including all US embassy hardware and software installations, servers, and PC maintenance. S/he provides training and support to users in a very demanding environment. S/he a ls o provides on-the -job training and mentoring to an Assistant systems administrator for some specific operations. The CA IT Manager works with the Information Systems Officer (ISO), the Consul General (Head of the Consular Section) and the CA Support desk in planning and procuring all hardware and software in support of CA systems.

S/he installs, maintains and troubleshoots all consular servers and manages consular Exchange mailboxes The incumbent mu st be able to accurately describe problems and to coordinate between various program offices in Washington DC in order to resolve and isolate problems The Consular Systems Manager also reviews all new software releases from the Department, by analyzing and testing 1h e packages before implementation. Analyzing and testing before implementation minimizes the chances of negatively impacting the performance of consular employees.

The Consular Systems Manager is responsible for developing system backup strategics to protect data integrity It is the incumbent's responsibility to ensure a reliable backup strategy is implemented, and to document recovery procedure s. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating along with the American ISO, the offsite storage of critical data for catastrophic recovery procedures, and to contribute to the ISC IT contingency planning for off-site emergency operations.

The Consular Systems Manager is in charge of maintaining, troubleshooting and solving all problems relating to hardware, software and communications services for any consular equipment established for the user of consular customers in the waiting area This equipment utilizes a separate network and requires additional security measures to ensure no external entities, including consular customers, compromise the systems.
Procurement, Inventory, Installation and Management of Hardware and Software.

The incumbent also has system security, telecommunications, reporting, and planning responsibilities.

**Qualifications and Evaluations**:

- Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively responsible experience in the IT field. Including two years of progressive experience in LAN / WAN Systems, Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Office
- Education Requirements:
Mandatory: Two years of post-secondary education in an Information Technology field.
- Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
English - Good Working Knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing. This will be tested.

French - Good Working Knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing. This will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to work independently and be resourceful is a must in order to solve IT problems and in setting objectives. The incumbent must be able to work in the user environment and pass on technical information to non-technical staff. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
