As a member of SCOR Global P&C’s worldwide Claims Department the Claims Adjuster will:
- Adjust Property & Casualty Reinsurance Treaty Claims emanating from the business underwritten in Cologne, Zurich and Milan.
- Engage regularly with underwriters, actuaries, accounting, and finance staff, with the ability to review and analyse overall loss porfolios.
- Effectively coordinate the claims management activities across the enterprise. Comply with reporting and control duties towards Claims Management.
- The position reports into the Head of Reinsurance Claims - UK, Germany and ME&A with day -to-day instruction coming from Head of Cologne/Zurich Treaty Claims. Occasional travel will be required._
Oversee and manage a portfolio of reinsurance claims which entails:
- Evaluate, develop, report on, and resolve complex and/or higher value individual claims, ensuring Claims Managers and Underwriters are advised of any contractual/legal issues prior to proceeding
- Approve financial transactions on claims within his/her authority
- Identify, assess, and monitor potential exposures to large claims not yet reported to SCOR
- Assist in the preparation of claim reviews and visits under the instruction of the Claims Managers, providing detailed oversight of the cedants claims process and advised losses together with marketing support relating to clients and brokers. Attendance will be required at market presentations, claims visits and audits when determined and appropriate
- Perform detailed research and analysis on individual topics, as directed by Senior Claims Management, and produce report/s detailing findings and making recommendations when required and appropriate
- Assist in the analysis and reporting of large complex losses and events, including assisting in the co-ordination / production of Large Loss Notifications, ensuring accuracy of advised figures especially where an accumulation of exposures has been identified
- Assist in broad analysis of the claims portfolio, including monitoring of potential exposures (‘watchlist’) and reviewing appropriateness of historical reserves (‘statics’)
- Monitoring and quarterly testing of ICS controls
- Close liaison with Technical Accounting, ensuring clients’ needs are fully understood and ensuring a close alignment of interests and a strong collaborative working relationship between all parties Work closely and effectively with other internal stakeholders including other members of the Department Underwriters and Actuarial, providing support and insight when required and appropriate
- Keep abreast of claim and industry developments/trends to maintain a high level of expertise Anticipate client needs and expectations and deliver superior customer service
- Participate in projects as required.
**Required experience & competencies**:
- Minimum 3 years of combined insurance and/or reinsurance claim handling experience within the DACH insurance/reinsurance market.
- Excellent understanding of German and/or Swiss insurance and/or reinsurance law, practice and principles.
- Good technical knowledge of legal principles, policy wordings and insurance market practice relevant to the handling and reserving of claims.
- Technical Reinsurance skills, with in depth knowledge of reinsurance terms and concepts.
- Expertise in managing a caseload of more complex claims from both a Case and Portfolio Management perspective.
- Fluent German (technical/business, written and conversational).
- Good level of English, both written and conversational. Good knowledge of Italian is preferred but not essential.
- Good analytical skills with attention to detail.
- At ease with presenting findings, ideas and other information in front of a group.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
