**Mitie are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician to join the Hard FM Team delivering contracted services to the MoD estate on Ascension Island.**:

**Job Overview**:

- This is not an engineering position, it is a technical role responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems in a wide range of buildings both industrial and domestic throughout the MoD estate.

**Main Duties**
- He/she **will** carryout general repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment by diagnosing and troubleshooting special service problems following all building standards, blueprints, instructions, and manuals.
- The air conditioning technician' role also involves estimating material, resource cost and determining plan and requirements for installing and start-up; testing, and servicing HVAC equipment.
- He/she is also responsible for training and assisting less experienced co-workers, and carrying out other duties that may be assigned.
- The technician's work description may also entail undertaking additional duties in support of operational delivery.
- It also involves being on-call after work hours to take on further assignments should there be emergency.
- The role includes completing work orders as assigned and scheduled according to established industry and company standard practices and procedures, and to prepare reports on their work activities to management as required.
- To identify the hazards and safe working practices for refrigerant handling, stationary refrigerants, air conditioning and heat pump system components, functions and leakage risks.
- To develop and foster positive relationships with the Mitie team to ensure works are implemented and ensure timely reporting of management information is achieved.
- To contribute to effective contract performance by working closely with all the teams/team members to support the implementation of company policies and strategies in order to achieve the business objectives.
- Attendance at meetings and briefings as directed by your Line Manager and Account Manager.
- To provide support to visiting contractors and the Mitie Projects Team as required.
- Ensure all QSHE Standards, Practices and Procedures as directed by the Contract, Civil and MoD Regulations and Company Procedures are implemented and maintained.

**What we are looking for**:

- Possess high school/vocational school diploma or G.E.D or technical training in HVAC systems
- Working experience maintaining and repairing heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and other related systems such as electrical systems, DX units and chillers.
- Strong ability and skill to quickly and correctly diagnose, locate, and fix defects in refrigeration and air conditioning systems/units and similar equipment.
- Possess certification in refrigerant transition and recovery
- Possess UK air conditioning mechanic license or its equivalent
- Possess valid driver's license
- Must be medically fit.
- Ability to work outdoors in challenging conditions such as extreme hot weather.
- Ability to work as part of a team, under pressure and meet deadlines without supervision.
