**About the role**:
Rippling is building the future of global payroll—and we’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our France Global Payroll team and help make that vision a reality. In this high-impact role, you’ll play a key part in advancing our full-service payroll platform, which powers payroll configuration and precise, compliant calculations for hundreds of thousands of employees.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the architecture and design of one of Rippling’s core product pillars from the ground up. You’ll lead initiatives that span the entire development lifecycle—from defining and scoping new product functionality to rearchitecting critical systems for scale, accuracy, and performance. Whether it’s expanding support for complex payroll edge cases or optimizing infrastructure for international growth, your work will directly shape the platform that anchors one of our largest and fastest-growing markets.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be more than just a technical expert. You’ll be a thought partner to product, a mentor to engineers, and a strategic voice in shaping Rippling’s next billion-dollar vertical. You’ll collaborate closely with some of the most talented engineers in the company, working in a fast-moving environment where innovation, autonomy, and ownership are the norm.

At Rippling, engineers at the Staff level are deeply embedded in product direction. You'll engage directly with users, contribute to go-to-market strategies, and become an expert in the domain. As an early member of this team, you'll also play a vital role in building team culture, process, and technical vision as we scale.

**What you will do**:

- Develop high-quality software with meticulous attention to detail
- Ship incremental updates at a high velocity, ensuring rapid progress
- Partner with design and product management leaders to shape and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the team, while maintaining a balanced approach that considers both platform and product perspectives
- Implement maintainable solutions with high quality and reliability that can scale as our business continues to grow and expand
- Provide mentorship to other engineers, fostering their professional growth and success
- Enforce high-quality deliverables and raise the bar for engineering excellence by building and operationalizing tools, monitors, and processes across the organization
- Engage with customers, supporting their success with Rippling

**What you will need**:

- Bilingual language proficiency of English and French
- 8+ years of experience in a production environment (Python, Django, React, MongoDB, AWS)
- Ability to own and deliver projects, transforming product specifications into successful releases
- Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, modern design patterns, providing you with a solid foundation to tackle complex technical problems and drive innovation.
- Proficiency in managing the complete project lifecycle, transforming intricate ideas into successful launches.
- Demonstrate a keen product sense that advocates for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Outstanding capacity to convey intricate technical concepts clearly and precisely, both in written and verbal communication, while collaborating effectively across diverse functional teams.
- Experience with Python, Django and React are a plus
- Strong focus on product ownership and problem-solving for customers
- Passionate about working in a product-focused environment where customer impact is paramount
