**Role and responsibilities**:
In the space sector, mass reduction is one of the most important challenges to be addressed. Structural optimization plays a key role in addressing this challenge, especially when combined with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies like additive manufacturing.

The structural analysis applied to the pre-dimensioning phase of any system includes the task of proposing creative solutions ensuring its safe operation and requires deep engineering judgment to assess the reliability of the obtained results.

In this context, the you will work on the characterization of the resistance of disruptive topologies applied to critical parts, their feasibility and main benefits, and their mass reduction capabilities.
- The following milestones are proposed:_

1. Understanding of the system’s status and its axes of improvement. This includes a deep comprehension of the current characterization of the structure’s resistance.

2. Investigating the state-of-the-art for the proposed alternatives: study their current usage, main benefits and potential mass gain. This phase may also include the proposition of other configurations showing potential.

3. Development of a tool able to dimension, set up and run preliminary analyses with new proposed designs.

4. Post-processing and understanding the key parameters impacting the structural behavior of the studied area.

5. Document the tool’s usage, capabilities, and the results obtained.

To perform the work, you must be able to set up, run and post-process numerical analyses simulating the behavior of the structures under a set of load cases. Nevertheless, it is essential to validate the numerical results against analytical calculations. Also, understanding the physical behavior of materials under loads is a key to anticipating the structural response for a given design change. This implies that you will usually perform hand calculations for the mentioned purposes.

**What you need to be successful**:

- Pursuing or nearing completion of a BAC+5 degree (Master’s or Engineering) in aeronautics, mechanics, or a related field
- Strong foundation in materials science and structural dimensioning
- Hands-on experience with FEA software; proficiency in Abaqus is a plus
- Hands-on experience with meshing tools such as HyperWorks or Meshworks is a plus
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, VBA, MATLAB)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstration of critical and analytical thinking
- Fluency in English (mandatory for an international work environment); French is a plus
- Strong communication and synthesis skills for effective team collaboration
