Editor/production Manager

**Duties**:
**The U.S. Embassy in Paris is recruiting a Publisher/Production Manager M/F for the Africa Regional Services section and its New Horizons editions.**

Incumbent serves as Editor and Production Manager for the Nouveaux Horizons (NH) Book Publishing Program of Africa Regional Services (ARS). NH is an imprint that acquires, sells and ships American titles to over 170,000 books to over 65 bookstores across Francophone Africa and Haiti. Under the supervision of the NH Program Manager, the production manager leads production of an average of 30 new titles annually in print, an equivalent number of e-books, and ten to fifteen audiobooks. S/he also manages production of an annual average of 30 reprints.
Within the NH team of four, the incumbent is supervised by the Program Manager who is the NH acquisitions editor, and s/he serves as primary backup to the Program Manager, Commercial Manager, and Marketing Manager.

This position is located in an office that provides public diplomacy support to 54 Africa posts with a particular focus on a subset of 27 French and Portuguese-speaking posts.
The incumbent must understand broad US policy across all regions and its significance for public diplomacy.

**EXPERIENCE**:
A minimum of four years experience in the book publishing industry is required.

**JOB KNOWLEDGE**:

- Good knowledge of the book production process and of desktop publishing (Publication Assistée par Ordinateur) as concerns the print and e-book formats.
- Technology savviness and knowledge of appropriate softwares such as Acrobat Pro and InDesign, and of specific softwares like Sharepoint, Box, etc. to store, organize, share, access, and archive information.
- Knowledge of social media platforms.
- Knowledge of French typography.
- Education Requirements:
**EDUCATION**:
**A Master’s degree in book publishing (5 years)** - master édition, métiers du livre, management de l'édition, etc. is required.

**SALARY**: the **annual gross salary includes**: the profit-sharing allowance, the vacation allowance, the bonus allowance and the “Comité d’Entreprise” allowance.

**MEAL TICKETS**: Meal tickets have a face value of EUR 8.25/day. 60% of the daily amount is paid by the U.S. Government. An employee contribution of EUR 3.30 per ticket will be deducted in payroll. The number of meal tickets is limited to 202 workdays per year.

**TRANSPORTATION**:Employees are eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the cost of public transportation passes purchased for commuting purposes.

**HOLIDAYS**: The U.S. Missions in France observe eleven U.S. holidays per year and up to ten French holidays.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
