Mail Room Clerk

**Duties**:
Incumbent assists customers at the service window, assigns mailboxes to new customers, processes package deliveries, and forwards mail to departed American employees' new addresses, using specialized software to track forwarding addresses. Uses ILMS to check the status of packages sent to or from the US Embassy Paris. Accepts and processes accountable mail in accordance with published standards, delivering accountable mail only to authorized patrons. Accepts and processes mail for dispatch in a timely manner according to postal regulations. Sends and receives reports from USPS, ILMS, or other systems as required. Incumbent helps to ensure the security of the mail facility. Incumbent helps with the maintenance of all postal equipment. The incumbent is responsible for keeping the postal facility clean and organized. The incumbent works with mailroom staff to ensure the proper handling of mail. - 90%

Incumbent is responsible for all inbound and outbound Classified Pouch operations, preparing items for dispatch and advising customers doing the same. Uses ILMS to track items and pouches and to prepare shipping documents. Communicates with Diplomatic Couriers to arrange pickup and delivery of shipments. Communicates with customers regarding picking up and dropping off items for the Classified Pouch. Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to Classified Pouch operations. - 10%

**Qualifications and Evaluations**:

EXPERIENCE: One year of general work experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: General understanding of local and US shipping and postal systems. Use of standard and specialized software.

LANGUAGE: English Level II (limited knowledge, written and spoken). This may be tested.
