**Brain Storm Shelter Restaurants Job Description: Vice President of Finance**

The folks behind your favorite backyard hangouts (Truck Yard, Second Rodeo Brewing, Beard Science Sour House), otherwise known as **Brain Storm Shelter**, are in search of a **VP of** **Finance **to lead the charge on all things dollars and sense (pun intended). First thing to know, we love to laugh - so requirement #1 is to enjoy a good joke and have one ready to share (puns are extra points). We try not to take ourselves to seriously, but we take our work very seriously. We currently have five units and are in major growth mode. We need a leader to ensure the financial side of the business is as excellent as our food, drinks and hospitality.

**SUMMARY**

Responsible for the overall reporting of operating results and the administration of accounting practices. Accountable for planning, developing, implementing and administering financial control, analysis, operating systems and internal control in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree, CPA/MBA preferred.
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another business-related field.
- 3+ years in managerial accounting position, restaurant, and/or hospitality industry a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles, and proven technical accounting research skills
- Must be a strong team player with an ability to build positive and effective working relationships with others.
- Professional and personal integrity beyond reproach.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficient and up to date on technology.
- Able to work successfully and happily in a fast-paced, small-team environment with ever-evolving priorities
- Service-oriented mindset.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee the restaurant period close process and ensure timely and accurate financial statements, including performing detailed period review of store and corporate financial statements. Manage monthly accruals, prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Oversee the activities of the disbursement cycle, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, management expense reports and cash controls.
- Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
- Responsible for the accounting of restaurant and company fixed assets, including tracking in fixed asset software, recording depreciation, accounting for disposition of assets, as well as monthly reconciliation to general ledger.
- Guide all operations of the department, including accounts payable and analysis.
- Directly manage the finance team; evaluate the team structure and team plan for continual improvement as well as provide individuals with professional growth opportunities where possible.
- Support the restaurants and corporate operations with timely responses to questions.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Serve as a liaison with investors, including providing key financial data to them on the agreed upon schedule.
- Be a financial advisor on any contracts the business may enter into.
- Responsible for annual financial statement audit, sales and property tax audits.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects, including reporting requests, annual budget preparation, etc.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax fillings.
- Qualitative and quantitative research on future spending related to marketing funds for potential return on investment (ROI).
- Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality within the organization and exhibit the highest degree of professional and personal integrity and ethical behavior.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license and have reliable transportation.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must agree to background check.
- Must be a strong team player with an ability to build positive and effective working relationships with others.
- Position requires regular attendance at the office and significant travel to restaurant locations, including some over-night stays.
- Sense of humor is a must.
- Able to work successfully and happily in a fast-paced, small-team environment with ever-changing priorities.
