**Role purpose**:
Working with the Chief Underwriting Office for Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa (CEMENA) this role has overall responsibility for the underwriting, strategic direction, operation and financial performance of the Corporate A&H business in CEMENA.
This role reports directly to the Chief Underwriting Office for CEMENA with a matrix to the Chief Operating Officer for International A&H.
The role is responsible for:
- Delivering sustainable, profitable growth across CEMENA. This is to be achieved by developing and managing the underwriting for the business, through working within the delegated authority as well as the management of a team of in-country Underwriters.
- Working with the Segment leaders/Country Managers for the development of the CEMENA A&H Corporate business plans, including re-forecasting and managing the execution of the same.
- Maintaining strong relationships with key brokers being their key escalation point
- Ensuring the appropriate deployment of A&H resources to ensure market leading service levels are achieved and maintained.
- Ensuring all direct reports are receiving adequate mentoring and training to be successful in the roles and addressing any performance related issues with the Country leadership.
- Strong engagement with the Sales & Distribution function to ensure we are maximising our national footprint and P&C portfolio to our advantage through active cross sell.
- Developing a strong culture of Activity Management including Premium retention, submission flow, quote flow, strike ratio and new business bound.
- Continuously strengthening existing and new producer relationships through regular visitation and attendance at various Chubb and industry events/conferences etc.
- Providing ongoing feedback on market conditions, competitor behaviour, producer needs and be a proactive contributor to the A&H businesses Product and distribution strategy and execution.
- Any other tasks as defined by Chief Underwriting Office for CEMENA from time to time.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and execute the strategic plan for the Corporate A&H business in CEMENA, in line the with overall business objectives of the company.
- Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and potential risks to develop effective business strategies and ensure long term profitability.
- Collaborate with CUO and other key stakeholders to establish pricing strategies, underwriting guidelines, and risk management frameworks.
P&L Management
In collaboration with the CUO and Country leadership:
- Take full ownership of the P&L for the Corporate A&H business in CEMENA.
- Monitor financial performance including GWP, NWP, NEP, UW Income, Loss Ratio %, Acquisition %, Admin % and GAAP COR % to ensure targets are achieved.
- Closely monitor Premium and Policy Retention and New Business activity (Premium and Policies) via Submission, quotes, and binds.
- Implement necessary actions to optimize financial results by identifying cost-saving initiatives, managing expenses, and enhancing underwriting discipline.
Business Development and Broker Relationship Management
- Manage the commercial activities with brokers, including the development and execution of broker engagement strategies.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key brokers, to drive business growth and retention by delivering tailored solutions and exceptional service.
- Support the identification of local and regional new business opportunities and expand market share by proactively seeking out potential clients and leveraging existing relationships.
- Seen as the leader for key Chubb A & H Broker relationship, being recognised as such by peer group and brokers - the focal point for issue resolution.
- Maintain productive internal relationships with P&C, PRS, and S&D teams:
- Participate actively in the market attending key market events
Team Leadership and Development
- Create and cultivate a high-performance culture within the Corporate A&H team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support to enhance individual and collective performance.
- Ensuring staff have clear PMP objectives and a personal development plan in place.
- Foster a strong talent pipeline by attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent in alignment with business needs.
- Ensuring direct reports complete Training and development courses allocated to them.
- Taking appropriate action to address any performance or productivity issues and the escalation of the same.
Underwriting and Risk Management
- Working within your delegated underwriting authority to escalate key referrals to IAH Chief Underwriting Officer.
