Steam Power New Nuclear Legal Counsel

**Job Description Summary**: Rochambeau is a European-dominated P&L with the following business focus:

- Nuclear New Build: selling, tendering and executing nuclear turbine island projects (from component only - turbine, generator, heat exchangers, pumps - to EPC)
- Nuclear Services in EMENAT, APAC and SSA: selling, tendering and executing parts, field services, outages and upgrades for services customers (ITO to OTR), including Field Services capabilities

The 3-year order plan for Nuclear New Build represents ~$1B p.a. and ~$300 M for Nuclear Services. From a revenue standpoint it’s ~$ 1B P&L with ~2,800 employees (thereof 70% based in France and less than 5% outside of Europe) and a legal organization of ~30 lawyers and contract managers.

Du point de vue du chiffre d'affaires, il s'agit d'un P&L d'environ 1 Md$ avec environ 2800 employés (dont 70 % sont basés en France et moins de 5 % en dehors de l'Europe) et une organisation juridique de ~30 juristes et contract managers.

**Essential Responsibilities**:
The role will provide leadership and expertise for the full scope of the legal, contract management and compliance function for the Rochambeau business, including but not limited to:

- Provide legal, contractual and compliance advice and leadership to further the objectives of the Rochambeau business.
- Stand-up legal, contractual and compliance systems, tools, policies for all key processes supported by TSA with GE etc. and drive key integration processes.
- Provide leadership and expertise for the full scope of functional disciplines, namely:

- Commercial legal - negotiation of new contracts, and approval of T&Cs. Advice on contracts under execution
- Contract management - administration of commercial matters, change orders, claims and disputes
- Compliance - implementing compliance control process and leading the business´ culture of integrity and serving as a strong guardian of the same at all levels of the organization
- Domain experts:

- Litigation - having carriage of the business formal litigation portfolio
- IP - preparing and maintaining the patent portfolio, managing license portfolio, commercial IP advice
- Labour and employment - legal advice on all labour matters
- Lead and maintain a lean way of working, through rigorous operating rhythm, standard work implementation, and problem-solving tools utilization. Drive a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.
- Lead succession planning and talent development strategies for the organization, identifying critical roles and preparing potential talent via mentoring, training, etc.
- Ensures appropriate legal entity structure and representatives in place in partnership with Finance/Tax & HR
- Manage interface with EDF Corporate legal incl. alignment with core legal processes and policies as applicable

**Qualifications**/**Requirements**:

- University degree in relevant discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in leading legal and/or contract management teams in power industry ideally having both projects and services experience.
- Proven in complex commercial negotiations with global customers and business partners
- Energetic and inclusive leader driving empowerment & accountability.
- Ability to take initiative and act independently with good judgement and business sense.
- Ability to make tough decisions, take balanced risk, and to strongly push back to senior management.
- Proven leadership experience in a global environment and ability to successfully function as a senior member of a management team.
