**SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES,**INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST**

The Occupational Health Doctor (OHD) is part of the Medical Services Unit (MSU) and reports directly to the Head of the MSU. The OHD supports and advises the Organization on health-related matters and provides occupational safety and health services to INTERPOL officials at the General Secretariat Headquarters' (HQ, Lyon) premises. OHD missions are related to the officials’ health follow-up, health promotion in the workplace, prevention of occupational risks, and work disability prevention.

The OHD is a qualified Medical Doctor who fulfils his or her duties independently. He/She conducts day-to-day medical acts at the HQ in Lyon, oversees and proceeds with the maintenance of medical reports and medical records and takes appropriate measures to ensure medical data confidentiality.

The OHD is independent in his/her medical advice ensuring confidentiality and is placed under the authority of the Head of the MSU with regards to the administrative management of his/her activity and the organization of his/her work.

The OHD complies with the medical and administrative procedures of INTERPOL's MSU, as defined by the Head of the MSU. The OHD works in close collaboration with the members of the MSU team as well as with other units across all INTERPOL duty stations. In all activities, OHD is bound by professional secrecy.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES**

**SCOPE, LIMITS AND EXCLUSIONS**

The role of the INTERPOL MSU is exclusively preventive. The MSU refrains from providing curative care to officials of the Organization, i.e. does not provide treatment and does not issue prescriptions or sick leave to officials of the Organization, except in emergencies or where authorized by the Organization’s legal framework. This prohibition extends to officials’ families.

The MSU undertakes to collaborate with the personal Doctor(s) of officials, in the officials’ and the Organization’s interest and with the officials’ agreement, whenever necessary.

The Head of the MSU is the Medical Authority of the Organization, providing independent, binding and definitive advice on medical matters.

**OBJECTIVE 1/Mission 1 - Conduct Medical check-ups and assessments**

These check-ups and assessments include:

- Medical assessment and physical examinations of officials upon their arrival, upon separation from service, return from long sick-leave, therapeutic part-time, at request of officials, or following work or mission related accidents;
- Medical check-ups for officials in the framework of their missions;
- Regular medical check-ups for INTERPOL officials throughout their career;
- Specific medical check-ups and assessments requested by the Organization or by the officials of the Organization.

**OBJECTIVE 2/Mission 2 - Advisory role on Occupational Health and Occupational Risks**
- Participate as an active member of the Health Safety and Security Committee;
- Regularly advise the Executive Director Resource Management on the following areas:

- Improvement of working conditions within the Organization;
- Adaptation of workstations, work techniques and work schedules as needed;
- Protection of officials from exposure to workplace health hazards (e.g., psychosocial factors, hazards associated with travel and missions and work in office environment);
- Advise on preventive measures to be taken regarding serious contagious diseases;
- Advise on preventive measures and inclusive strategies to support officials presenting a disabling health condition;
- Participate in information and awareness campaigns on health issues related to professional activity;
- Support Human Resources Management in delivering policies where advice is needed regarding health and safety.

**OBJECTIVE 3/Mission 3 - Miscellaneous**:

- Contribute to the administrative management of the service;
- May participate in occasional missions to other duty stations.

Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.

- Advanced Medical Degree, from a recognized institution, that qualifies for registration as a licensed medical practitioner in France:
