Role Purpose:
The HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE) Digital Business Services Business Partner is a high profile role and a key member of HBCE Finance, working within the Strategic Planning and Stress Testing (SP&ST) team. As such it will provide the jobholder with an excellent opportunity to develop and grow this important role within both Global Finance and partnering with Digital Business Services (DBS).
The HBCE DBS Business Partner will be responsible for the oversight of Costs and Investments for DBS (partnering closely with the businesses) and together with the Head of SP&ST is responsible for Business Partnering and communication of the Financial Business Performance across HBCE and into the regional and Global teams for DBS.
The role holder will work closely with the Regional Head of Strategic Cost Management to deliver aligned services and MI where relevant and appropriate to maintain consistency in messaging. Working alongside the Heads of Finance for DBS and ServCo, the role holder will ensure that data and processes for MI are aligned and that regional and local requirements are met. Responsibilities span strategic analysis, cost management advice, data and reporting enhancements, transformation program financial support, decision support, execution of planning and forecasting delivered with a significant element of stakeholder management

Primary activities are:

- Closely support the HBCE Head of SP&ST and the HBCE CFO to provide better understanding of Costs, potential levers, forward looking projections for DBS within HBCE;
- Key focus on improving DBS cost data quality within HBCE to enable accurate / robust MI and therefore decision making;
- Support DBS COOs on monthly close, forecast/FRP and understanding cost and recovery numbers and processes;
- Finance support for strategic multi-year BAU cost reduction program including identification of material bank wide cost saving opportunities, developing business cases and driving action together with DBS to deliver savings;
- Driving actions and guidance from DBS Cost Forums through DBS management forum - track and own actions and issues for resolution;
- Undertake deep dive expense line cost reviews for DBS across the entity;
- Key SME to advise and inform HBCE Head of SP&ST, CFO, COO and Head of GBs on charges from DBS, ServCo ;
- Review and validate forecast and target/boundary changes for DBS in HBCE;
- Respond to ad-hoc and deep dive analysis requests and manage outcomes/resolution.

The role will involve working closely with onshore and offshore resource, including within the region and wider Group, to deliver against strategic objectives. The role holder will need to demonstrate leadership and strong commercial and financial understanding while promoting an environment supporting diversity and reflecting HSBC’s brand.

Requirements
- Extensive experience in operating at a senior level within complex Financial Services organisations (Banking preferred);
- An excellent level of business analysis experience requiring strong technical and commercial understanding of what drives the numbers reported;
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of excellent stakeholder management, working effectively across teams and problem solving with the confidence to make measured decisions which may have far reaching implications;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.;
- Execution oriented: proactive escalation of issues whilst maintaining solution focused and flexible approach to accommodate the changing business/function needs;
- Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders at all levels of seniority;
- Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorly-defined problems;
- Strong communication skills - applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations);
- Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities;
- Prior experience of working with offshore/satellite teams is desirable;
- Sound judgment, decision making and problem solving abilities;
- Commercially minded and customer focused;
- Ideally (but not essential), a Masters degree in Finance or Accounting from a business school, engineering school or university or a professional Finance qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA);
- Experience of running an Annual Operating Plan / FRP process would be a strong advantage.
