**The role**:
As a **Product Engineer (Backend)** on the Kota Embed team, you’ll help design and build the APIs and SDKs that power embedded insurance and retirement benefits for platforms worldwide. You’ll work on meaningful product challenges, learn from senior engineers, and contribute to resilient, developer-friendly systems.

This role is a great fit if you’re a strong backend engineer who wants to quickly grow into a senior role by taking on more ownership, collaborating cross-functionally, and honing both your product and engineering craft.

**What You'll Do**:
Being a part of our embed team, you will be responsible to
- ** Contribute to core APIs and SDKs**: Build new features and improve existing ones that developers love to use.
- ** Learn by doing**: Work closely with senior engineers on architecture, design, and code reviews to accelerate your growth.
- ** Improve developer experience**: Help simplify workflows for customers and partners by turning complexity into elegant APIs.
- ** Collaborate widely**: Partner with product managers, designers, and integrations teams to deliver impactful solutions.
- ** Take on growing ownership**: Gradually lead projects, participate in incident response, and contribute to a blameless culture of learning.

**What We're Looking For**:

- ** Experience**: 3-5+ years building backend systems, ideally with:

- .NET (we use latest 8+), SQL databases, ORM frameworks, automated testing.
- Cloud experience with Azure or AWS.
- You care about writing clean, maintainable code and continuously improving your skills.
- You thrive in collaborative environments and want to work closely with product and design.
- You’re motivated by the opportunity to grow into a senior engineer through mentorship and ownership.
- ** Availability**: At least 5 hours overlap with GMT working hours.

**Our Hiring Process**:

- ** Introductory Call (30 minutes)**: Meet one or two members of our product team to learn more about Kota and the role.
- ** Technical Interview (1 hour + 1 hours)**: A collaborative and open-book session with two of our engineers split into two sessions.
- ** Call with Founders (30 minutes)**: We are a small but growing team and we would want share our vision with you and hear your thoughts.
- ** Final Response**: We'll follow up promptly with next steps.
