**Communication officer - focus on science writing and media relations**

**Context**
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research.
The Communication group, part of the ILL’s Partnerships and Communication Service (PACS), has recently developed a new communication strategy, which it is actively deploying. This encompasses improving the ILL experience (at ‘virtual’, ‘real’ and ‘VIP’ levels) and making the Institute fulfil its tagline ‘Neutrons for Society’, with the overall goal of boosting ILL’s visibility and reputation. As a member of the Communication group you will participate in the design and implementation of communication projects aligned with the strategy, in collaboration with the other group members.
Your role will have a double focus on:
1. Science writing and content development for different audiences and communication channels;
2. Media, institutional and public relations.

**Your tasks**
- Science writing and content development for different audiences (stakeholders and institutional partners, journalists, scientific users, industrial partners, the general public) and a variety of communication channels and formats (press releases, pitches, web stories and social media posts; reports and briefings; brochures, scripts and exhibition materials), primarily in English but preferably also in French.
- Support PACS activities aimed at boosting institutional relations, international partnerships, and networking in general (including with Associate and Scientific Member countries, media, alumni, industry and EU projects).
- Participate in the conception and implementation of communication projects aligned with the ILL communication strategy.
- Contribute to making ILL’s communication increasingly coherent and comprehensive and to improving the methods used for monitoring and evaluation.

**Your profile**
- You hold a Master’s degree or PhD in pure or applied sciences (or equivalent). Graduate-level training in science communication would be an advantage.
- You have proven experience in communication in a similar role and environment and have a modern communication style.
- Experience of working in a scientific environment is highly desirable.
- You have excellent written and spoken English. A good knowledge of written and spoken French is desirable.
- You are a proficient user of social networks and digital media.
- You are motivated to learn new things and recognised for your critical thinking and creative skills.
- You are able to work autonomously but enjoy teamwork and are recognised for your skills as a team player.
