The Head of Medical Affairs International is accountable for providing medical leadership within Specialty Care International, leading Ipsen’s medical strategy, direction & programs for the medical function across the geographies ensuring all Regions & Countries are aligned with Global Medical Affairs strategy. The Head of Medical Affairs International will focus on building a best-in-class medical affairs group, focusing on generation of meaningful data & insights ensuring the organization has a strong international medical network, and engaging with global thought leaders. The Head of Medical Affairs will ensure a strong cross-functional partnership between Medical Affairs and Commercial as well as a deep collaboration with Global Medical Affairs teams, Global Patients Affairs and Patients Safety groups to help improve practice of medicine and patient outcomes in the TAs we serve.

**Main responsibilities / job expectations**

**Lead the Medical strategy, direction & programs for the medical function across Specialty Care geographies (except North America) - will be a critical leader to achieve best-in-class medical organization**
- Ensure medical transformation and medical strategies are implemented within countries / regions are fully aligned with the Specialty Care International, GPPS and CMOLT strategies & objectives, in partnership with the Medical Asset leads
- Represent CMO within internal Committee (International Operations Leadership Team), and countries within CMOLT
- Chair the MARB committee to ensure relevant Clinical Studies are run out in the countries. He/she will chair the Grants and Donations Committee
- Follow-up on the execution of key clinical studies across geographies and efficient data collection
- Is the key contact for any information needed from the countries on BD / External Innovation deals
- Accountable for sign off of regional and G5 annual medical plans aligned to Global Annual Medical Plans (GAMP), Global Brand Strategic Plan (GBSP) and Country Brand Operating Plans (CBOP).
- Recommend short & long term innovative strategic options to the GMA Franchises, countries / Regions based on feedback collected from countries
- Anticipate necessary adjustments in GMA launch plans
- Ensure GCPs, Ethics and medical compliance are applied within all programs, and report to CMO on these matters; set-up and coordinate appropriate monitoring processes, in coordination with Clinical Operations, Safety and Quality organizations and Regions/countries
- Perform due medical diligence, ensuring that Ipsen products retain a positive benefits/ risk ratio, unconditionally placing patient safety in the foreground

**Develop and manage relationship with external stakeholders**:

- Engage contacts with global thought leaders in support of the Regions and countries to ensure Ipsen profile is maintained across our key therapeutic Areas in close collaboration with TA Heads and countries
- Spend a significant proportion of time outside Ipsen to represent the company in congresses, in any meetings with KOL or authorities
- Maintain an external focus to stay abreast of clinical trends, medical and compliance challenges to ensure that Ipsen is continually innovating and maintaining a competitive edge

**Integrates and create a high performing medical team to execute the GMA strategy in countries**:

- Provide functional line management to G5 Medical Directors and direct management to Regional GMA Heads
- Provide opportunities of development for talents identified in countries at Global level, within other countries or other Ipsen divisions
- Has overall responsibility for building and developing a team with ‘state of the art’ medical skills and the required competencies in all areas of medical activities in countries, particularly in medical knowledge
- Ensures the proper execution of the tasks and duties assigned to the teams under his / her responsibility
- Ensure Best Practices are shared across geographies and to wider internal stakeholders
- Provide support and guidance across all aspects of medical affairs and Ipsen business interests in collaboration with CMOLT and senior IOLT leadership
- Ensures proactive, effective and efficient communication and cross-functional working between the CMO group, R&D, Commercial and other key divisions of Ipsen

**Manage Global Medical Affairs International budget**
- Oversee Global Medical Affairs International budget, from planning and reporting
- Manage projects prioritization within the budget and provide strong insights for arbitration within the Ipsen portfolio
- Build strong medical business cases during new assets assessment

**Knowledge, abilities & experience**

Education / Certifications:

- MD Board certified, oncology and/or neuroscience experience considered additive
