We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic “alternant” to join the Sustainability team supporting the Global Banking (GB) business in delivering the ESG agenda within HSBC Continental Europe. The opening is based in our Paris office (38 Avenue Kleber).

**Role Purpose**

As part of a core team of 4 people in Europe supported by a wide network of Sustainability Champions across the Group you shall be in contact with stakeholders from all the different areas of the bank from a product and geographical perspective. We are working as part of a Group wide Sustainability team spanning across all the main HSBC hubs (US / Middle-East / Asia / UK). Your main stakeholders shall be Relationship Managers in charge of presenting HSBC’s capabilities to Europe’s biggest corporations and Financial Institutions as well as the teams supporting the Sustainability agenda roll-out (Risk, Chief Control Office, Strategy, Compliance, Group Risk Analytics and the Corporate Sustainability Center of Excellence).

Global Banking is a division of Global Banking & Markets which provides financial services and products to corporates, governments and financial institutions. It has c.3500 employees across over 50 sites globally. GB is also primarily responsible for investment banking, lending and capital markets products to clients across the Group.

**Context**
In 2021, HSBC entered into the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, an agreement by banks to align lending and investment strategies using existing and new technologies and policies with net-zero emissions by 2030. This agreement not only targets the industry's own carbon emissions, but also allocates lending and investment funds to organizations involved in the reduction of carbon emissions.
Since then, ESG has been a top priority for the bank and Global Banking in particular. This will shape our business going forward.
It is also being on the scrutiny of our regulators, especially the European Central Bank.
They except HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE):

- to understand the impact of climate-related and environmental risks on its business environment to make informed choices.
- to implement a consistent business strategy across all Wholesale businesses & to define relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPÏs) to all the sectors across the portfolio of clients.

Joining HSBC as Sustainable Lead support for HBCE allows you to have a real impact by participating to the roll-out of the Sustainability agenda in one of the biggest bank in the world which will influence how corporates and other financial institutions are tackling Climate Change.

**Accountabilities**:

- Supporting requests related to the business/front office strategy and its implementation made by the regulator (the ECB) progressing on HBCE Business Environment/Strategy and Materiality assessment.
- Supporting the **ECB remediation plan** by:

- Support the work we have to perform on **materiality assessment of the portfolio** of HBCE. Identifying key risk elements by sector, geographic area and relevant to HBCE products and services; risks mapping within existing portfolios; client by client analysis including financed emissions and other ESG KPIs; transition plans analysis, discussion with the Global Relationship Bankers and assessment (in scope: 270 GB names as reported during the stress test).
- Analyzing how **climate-related and environmental risks** affect HBCE GB business environment and work with Chief Control Office teams and our Risk stewards.
- Contributing to the roll-out and successful deployment of HSBC’s risk assessment tool like TEQ (transition engagement questionnaires) for Continental Europe
- Supporting the HBCE Sustainability team in calibrating **HSBC’s ESG scoring tool** in collaboration with Group Risk Analytics and the Risk function.
- Support the execution of **HBCE GB ESG and Sustainable Finance strategy**; Monitor KPIs and track the progress of strategy execution
- Supporting Regional ESG Leads Caroline Pinard and Tatiana Slepova to deliver HSBC’s Global Banking Sustainability agenda in continental Europe taking into account GB Global strategy, coordinating HSBC’s ESG/Sustainability agenda: trainings, communication, implementation of Client Transition Plans for GB Europe clients and events.
- Supporting the wider GB Sustainability teams, in the day-to-day to management and oversight of the GB ESG and Sustainable Finance priorities
- Collaborate with other sustainability stakeholders across the Group, including Commercial Banking, the Corporate Sustainability Center of Excellence as well as Risk.

Prepare ESG & Sustainable Finance materials for various governance forums and meetings with senior stakeholders as well as for the regulator; while continually seeking opportunities to streamline and simplify processes
