Global Customs Department
In this context, the Global Customs Department was created in 2022 to build a customs strategy for the group to support its international offering; develop its international transport capabilities and design an efficient and optimized customs clearance network around Europe and rest of the world and consider the customs specificities and what the BUs are able to manage.
The Customs department is positioned inside the "Regulatory and Global Trade Affairs" Division, which is also responsible for relations with the authorities, working on all normative subjects as well as validating the compliance of international trade activities (Trade compliance).
However, the positioning is "business" oriented: the Customs Department must play an active role between the Business units, Headquarters and external regulatory stakeholders (political authorities, control administrations, business associations, intergovernmental organizations).
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Customs director, your position will have two main aspects:
- organizing the operational framework within which the group's business units and central teams will have to work,
- support the Customs Dept in the development of their different projects
Some of the important tasks for the coming years will be, among others:
- To improve our customs processes and make sure that the different regulations are well known and understood
- Participate in the elaboration and update of the customs policies and customs processes, including IT evolutions.
- Participate in the regulatory watch and to its dissemination within the community (newsletter, intranet, etc.). Assess and anticipate as much as possible the potential changes, impacts and risks and share the analysis with the services involved.
- Assist the customs community manager in sharing information from different sources and making it as clear as possible to facilitate understanding by the various parties involved.
- Organize and animate dedicated workshops, when necessary, on dedicated topics
- Follow the BUs requests, build strong relationships with BUs, follow their requests, offer consistent support to BUs on which they can rely.
- Bring technical and legal support to the group's business units in their customs issues.
- Decide and define how the information collected could be stored and processed in customs tools.
- Develop training materials and ensure their dissemination.
In all these tasks you will be supported by your manager, the customs teams, plus additional consultants and experts internally.
Expected skills & profile
We are looking for an individual who has:
Strong organizational and project management skills,
Autonomy at work and force of proposal, proactive approach,
Economic intelligence skills to gather information necessary for the department's activities (Internet, network, official websites, press, etc.) (Internet, network, official sites, Press…)
Good editorial skills and strong expressive skills with ability to make regulatory texts and issues understandable,
Ability to work in an intercultural environment (multiple BUs in Europe and partner throughout the world)
Expressive skills and capacity to exchange easily with many interlocutors,

Ability to conduct calls and video meetings with multiple participants.
Significative experience executing cross-functional projects
Knowledge of customs fundamentals (not necessary to be an expert).
Knowledge of the transport industry is a plus.
Fluent in French & English (C1/C2 level written and spoken), any other additional language is welcomed.
The Customs team is based in Issy-les-Moulineaux. A lot of meetings and conferences are organized on video nowadays,
but the position may require travel within the EU and outside.
