Drive a positive Safety Culture across site * Behaviour Based Safety_ BBS Achieve production targets as per the Business Plan or Forecast. Adherence to mine planning schedules, in quantity, quality and be actively involved in its derivation Participate in setting strategic direction to participate in managing the delivery of that work so that profit and turnover targets of Mining Business Plan are met and securing new work when possible. Lead, organise and provide direction to Site Teams to ensure exceptional performance is achieved in people performance, HSE&Q outcomes and the business results. Actively always contribute to a positive teamwork environment Always communicate openly and honestly Maintain an efficient relationship within the company, CLIENT and Business partners Motivate employees to be top achieversDIMENSIONSThe PRODUCTION MANAGER is accountable for: Managing third party contractors and consultants (related to Tender, Budget, New Technology, etc..)KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESFunctional/Technical Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.PRODUCTION MANAGER's Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Leadership & People Management : Create an empowered, productive and motivated team culture that delivers outstanding performance in all aspects to achieve a successful business performance. Co-ordinate staff to work safely, productively, efficiently, and effectively as an integrated team. Lead, demonstrate and educate the employees to embrace a work environment free from discrimination, where everyone is included and treated with respect. Provide leadership to employees through proactive management of industrial relations issues. Ensure positive behaviours and consistent to enhance TEAM SPIRIT. Co-ordinate Union /workforce negotiations Oversee the development of staff by ensuring employment and training opportunities reflect company and staff needs. Identify and procure competent staff as required by Business Plan or Succession Plan (SC). Participate and provide Strategic guidelines to Project Manager and personnel reporting to this positionHSE&Q: Responsible for the health and safety of employees and self through education, training and demonstration of the right behaviours. Ensure safe and efficient operation of the business through proactive management of the employees, procedures and processes. Ensure the company's HSE&Q standards are incorporated into the workplace. Comply with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations and statutory obligations always Report on problems or areas for improvementOperational : Ensure planning for mining works is in accordance with Business Plan. Ensure the setting of realistic programs at planning stages. Derivation of Budgets Ensure site programs meet budget targets and contract requirements in accordance with Business Plan. Ensure early preparation and review of yearly, monthly and weekly plans, (attend the related meetings) Review the effectiveness of the weekly and the monthly plan daily with the mining team (in-house and with the client) Attend all required production meetings and provide daily targets to the production teams Approve monthly and weekly plans Provide necessary instructions and guidance to the Superintendents Control the daily data and achievements Review of weekly/monthly reports Be involved in the project budget costs and target Interact with Plant department to optimize both service and maintenance of mining equipment Load and Haul Management : Ensure comprehensive, continuous, and effective supervision of Loading and hauling operations with excavators and trucks: this includes (but not limited to), Excavator set-up, floor control, dumping management, productivity optimization, truck allocation, machines utilization, Rehandling and processing plant feed… Ensure a comprehensive, continuous, and effective supervision of haul roads construction and maintenance Blasting management : Ensure a comprehensive, continuous, and effective supervision of blasting activities Provide technical guidance to the team Drilling Management: Ensure a comprehensive, continuous, and effective supervision of Drilling activities Provide technical guidance to the team when required Production Engineering Management Ensure that the data capturing system is efficiently implemented Approve the daily reports/plans Logistics and Supply Chain Manage Production stock levels in order to ensure that stock items are readily available when requirement and that stock level remains on target Provide consumption forecast when required Cost Control and Budgeting Provide Finance Department with the required information related to costs and budget Propose actions to fix deviations to Budget Analyze Life of Mine planning required Reports non-conformities and follow up on corrective and preventive actions Actively participate to internal or external audits, to process reviews and management meetings Champion the preparation of the monthly operations reportSubcontractor Procurement (e.g., Explosives Suppliers, Machine OEM): Ensure subcontractor procurement is in accordance with Contracts and the company's guidelines Ensure subcontractor performance is monitored and meets required performance standards.Ethics : Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, statutory obligations, and the company's policy Always act honestly and with integrity Respect the values and diversity of others Accept responsibility and be accountable for actions Avoid situations resulting in a conflict of interest, bribery, or the use of inducements to secure businessClient relations : Establish regular formal and informal contact with client so that client needs can be understood andmanaged to ensure satisfaction with delivered product under the contractual terms. Master's in mining engineering, civil works or earth sciences or a MBA in Business will be an added advantageSkills: Essential : A minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position in an Open pit environment (preferably gold) Strong knowledge of drilling, explosives and blasting techniques Computer literate (Excel, Word, PPT, Access, Outlook), Surpac (equivalent), AutoCAD Strategic and Assertive leadership Communication – written and verbal Desirable: Good knowledge in Geology, Geotechnics and Topography General Technical (maintenance) knowledge in Mining Equipment Exposure to the challenges of operating in remote sites and in particular developing countries.
