About The Team And The Role
Alma's Operations department comprises 100 professionals across various specializations: Global Operations (process design and continuous improvement), Customer Operations (day-to-day customer support and risk management) and Ops Scalability (Tooling, Data and AI).
Our collective objective is to support Alma's scaling: we deliver exceptional user experiences (4.8 on Trustpilot, top-rated NPS), provide best-in-class support to merchants and consumers while driving continuous improvement in processes, costs and quality.
Reporting to the VP Operations, the Head of Operations Scalability will play a key role in the ongoing transformation of Alma's Operations. You will set a 12–24-month vision and design and drive the Ops data, AI and automation roadmap, from prioritization to delivery and measurable impact.
The ambition is to maintain our execution pace, while iterating on new AI / Gen AI / automation approaches, in close collaboration with your Ops peers, as well as central data, product and engineering teams. On a short-term basis, you will continue providing the Run and Build teams with the data, insights and tooling needed to optimize their efficiency.
We are looking for someone who is curious about innovation and Gen AI, reliable, with strong interpersonal and technical skills. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, creates clarity, and leads change in a fast-evolving environment.
The role is based in our HQ in Paris.
Responsibilities:
- Management of a team of 4, with various degrees of seniority and autonomy, encompassing tooling & automation as well as data & insights; Ensure these valuable resources are used wisely; Contribute directly to developing their skills, and maximise their collective impact;
Drive the transformation of Operations and own the Ops' AI roadmap:
Lead your team in creating reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems within ops, with full adhesion of the operations team members;
- Partner with Build and Run peers to surface high-value automation / AI / Gen AI opportunities; avoid the hype to keep your approach simple and relevant to our current and future needs;
- Facilitate processes evolution across the team in close collaboration with project owners on the Build side, as well as P&E teams when needed; Make the best use of customer data to design new processes and challenge the status quo; Deliver the adequate solution, at the right moment of customers journeys, and with relevance with Almakers' own work;
- Anticipate integration or development needs: work closely with Product, Data and Engineering leadership to to influence their roadmap and connect relevant models, services or databases to maximise your impact;
You contribute to our operational and long-term planning, in order to allocate Ops and Alma resources with maximal efficiency; In specific, you actively contribute to make or buy decisions, and may own direct relationship with external suppliers accordingly; you work with procurement, security and finance to ensure the best possible outcome for Alma;
Maintaining excellence in our day to day delivery:
Ensure data is available and reliable at any time, in close collaboration with Alma central Data team (most notably, respecting internal framework of data management and governance). Your team is responsible for facilitating A/B testing as required and to contribute to incidents monitoring;
- Contribute to fostering a culture of growth and excellence within the team, embarking the whole organization behind iterations and progress along the way, and ensuring we execute at good pace;
Contribute to empowering the whole team to adopt AI and workflows automation, by sharing best practices and acting as internal champion;
Thought leadership & tech watch: make Alma the benchmark for Ops scalability in the scale-up ecosystem — set the tech radar, publish playbooks and benchmarks, and fuel strategic conversations internally and externally.
About You
Required skills and experiences:
- Strong Analytical and Technical Skills: You have proven experience in iterating with data / ML or gen AI and delivering measurable results. You have a good understanding of databases architecture;
- Proven pragmatism in problem-solving, demonstrating the ability to deliver practical and effective solutions without getting lost in overly complex or theoretical approaches
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating high-performing technical teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
- Hands-On Approach & Ownership: You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and tackle challenges head-on. You have a strong inclination for execution and have a proactive attitude to find and implement solutions.
- You hold a Master's degree (engineering, data science, finance, business, or related field).
- You have 8+ years of experience in data, product, operations, with a notable leadership experience, preferably in a high-growth tech environment.
- You are fluent in English and French
