Head of Production

Animaj is a next-generation media company that brings high-quality and inspiring brands to kids and families worldwide.

We acquire and transform high-quality IPs (including Pocoyo, HeyKids) into multi-platform franchises, using a digital-first and AI-driven approach. Our content, produced independently, aims to inspire children to dream, explore, and create.

We are backed by a world-class team of investors including Bpifrance, Harbour View, LeftLane, XAnge, Daphni, JP Morgan, and some of the best VCs or tech business angels; we have raised ~ $150m since our creation in May 2022.

We are a fast-growing company aimed at changing the paradigm in the Kid's entertainment industry.

We are seeking an experienced Head of Production to lead our operational production team and oversee day-to-day execution across multiple animated content projects, pioneering new AI-driven processes to make Animaj the benchmark for next-generation kids' content.

Your job will be to (i) run production at scale across multiple IPs, (ii) build the operational backbone that lets us grow from 3 to 10+ concurrent shows, and (iii) lead a team that embraces AI-centric workflows (eg. not legacy pipelines).

This isn't a "business as usual" production role: we need someone who is obsessed with how AI, data, and technology can transform production in the long run, a trailblazer to help us reinvent animation production. If your instinct is to "do it the way it's always been done," this isn't the right opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

• Team Management

• Lead, mentor, coach and support our team of line producers across junior to senior levels, helping them succeed in managing complex, fast-paced productions.

• Support line producers in managing relationships with external animation studios.
• Provide escalation support for complex production issues, serving as both sparring partner and troubleshooter for line producers.

• Collaborate with SVP on strengthening the line producer team as new IPs and projects are acquired, participating in hiring decisions and onboarding new team members.

• Operational Oversight

• Guarantee productions land on time, on budget, and within Animaj's quality standards.

• Serve as primary production liaison with Legal, Finance, Distribution, YouTube, and Creative teams and any other internal key stakeholders.

• Eliminate inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and old habits.

• Production Reporting & Administration Management

• Supervise the Production Administrator and establish centralized, unified reporting systems that provide clear visibility into all production progress with ability to drill down into specific issues and bottlenecks, ensuring accurate data collection and streamlined administrative processes across all projects.

• Actively contribute to refining and improving key production metrics, tracking budget adherence, schedule compliance, completion percentages, and other key performance indicators.

• Technology Implementation

• Execute implementation of new production technologies and methods as directed by SVP Production Innovation

• Implement tools and GenAI proprietary technology, and provide metrics on measurable efficiency gains from technological advances.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a line producer in CGI animation production (TV/Series), with multi-studio management.

• 2+ years in leadership (Head of Production, or equivalent) managing teams.
• Proven ability to maintain budget control and schedule adherence across multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced environments.
• Track record of implementing and maintaining efficient production processes and reporting systems
• Tech-savvy and AI-curious: not afraid to test, break, and implement new workflows.
• Dynamic & evolving setting: Excel when goals evolve quickly, and easily adapts to new directions and shifting priorities.
• Known for cutting through complexity and making decisive calls that keep projects moving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing both internal teams and external studio relationships
• Proficiency with production management software and production tracking tools (experience with Flow, Kitsu, Ftrack, Aquarium or similar platforms). Comfortable in adopting new ones fast.

Outcomes
After 30 days at Animaj

• Complete assessment of current line producer team capabilities and identify specific support needs for each team member
• Deploy a unified reporting framework for full visibility across all active productions
• Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders and understand current production challenges

After 90 days at Animaj

• Implement improved production tracking and reporting systems with clear KPIs and regular review cycles
• Successfully resolve at least one major production challenge through direct support and problem-solving
• Establish clear quality checkpoints and processes that ensure consistent delivery standards across all projects

After 6 months at Animaj

• Achieve measurable improvements in production efficiency metrics (on-time delivery, budget adherence, quality consistency)
• Successfully onboard and integrate new line producers as the project portfolio expands
• Make Animaj the benchmark for AI-driven production in the industry.
