Practice Area
BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group's existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design.

We support our clients' total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion's interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.

What You'll Do

As a Technology & Digital Consultant, you will work at the intersection of business, technology, and operations. You'll help leading energy players design and implement technology solutions that enable digital transformation across the value chain — from upstream production and asset management to smart grids and clean energy transition.

• Technology Strategy & Architecture

Develop digital and technology strategies to help clients modernize core operations all along the energy value chain

Design and assess enterprise architectures, cloud strategies, and IT operating models tailored to the energy sector.

Advise executives on technology investments, digital capabilities, and innovation roadmaps aligned with decarbonization and net-zero goals.

• Digital Transformation Delivery

Lead implementation projects integrating cloud, data, and AI platforms to enhance business capabilities.

Support the design of cutting edge digital solutions (like twins, IoT ecosystems, and advanced analytics that enhance operations excellence and visibility.

Partner with client IT and operations teams to drive agile delivery, MVP prototyping, and scalable digital adoption.

• Collaboration & Thought Leadership

Contribute to business development, shaping proposals and delivering thought leadership in digital energy transformation.

Engage with technology partners and innovation ecosystems to stay ahead of emerging trends and solutions.

What You'll Bring

• 3-7 years of experience in technology consulting, software engineering leadership, or AI-driven transformation — ideally within a top-tier consultancy, a tech company, or a leading digital organization serving clients in in Energy sector (Utilities Power generation conventional or renewables, Utilities transmission and distribution. Oil & Gas Upstream, Refining and Chemicals and marketing, commodities trading).
• Proven experience in one or more of the following:
• Digital transformation and IT modernization
• Cloud migration planning and platform strategy (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Industrial IoT, OT/IT integration, and data-driven operations
• Energy specific digital platforms (Aveva, Cognite, OSDU, SLB softwares, Aspentech)
• Utilities specific digital solutions (SAP ISU, SAP Utilities, Kraken, Powercloud, Kaluza)
• Enterprise architecture (TOGAF, ArchiMate)
• AI and advanced analytics use cases for asset optimization or sustainability
• Cybersecurity and operational resilience in energy infrastructure
• Oil & Gas specific processes (asset management, hydrocarbon accounting, Upstream operations, capital projects, JV accounting)
• Utilities specific processes (asset management, grid operations, power generation. utilities customer relationship management, utiliyies metering and billing)
