Job Description
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an action-adventure open world game set in a captivating space opera universe and the direct prequel to the 2003 cult classic. Based on a breakthrough technology driven by the proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer a seamless experience of exploration and space piracy across a solar system full of exotic locations, colorful characters and mysteries to uncover, solo or with friends. So, if you are ready for an adventure like no other, come join forces with us to build System 3
What You'll Do
Missions
Under the supervision of the Audio Director at the Montpellier studio, you will provide technical solutions for integrating and implementing audio systems to ensure that the audio assets created by the team work as intended, in line with the Audio Director's vision.
- You will work in the middleware (Wwise) and in the proprietary engine through scripting or the editor's graph system.
- You'll develop solutions that align with the Audio Technical Direction's constraints and the specificities of the audio engine.
- You'll propose audio systems to the Audio Director that improve the efficiency of audio integration across other departments (animation, UI, etc.).
- You'll also take on all the responsibilities of a Sound Designer, including:
- Creating audio assets
- Proposing audio designs
- Integrating audio designs
This may involve every aspect of audio: sound, music, voice, and all components of a game animation, UI, weapons, vehicles, and more.
You will also be able to fully assume the role of audio technical lead within the project, ensuring the consistency, performance, and quality of all audio systems:
- Exercise technical authority over the project's audio and ensure the proper application of technical standards.
- Write, maintain, and distribute audio technical documentation.
- Monitor and validate audio guidelines, ensuring their compliance and effective integration into the production pipeline.
- Act as a technical advisor and main point of contact with other Technical Directors on the project.
- Actively contribute to CPU and memory load management, as well as optimizing resource usage on the various consoles.
Your Future Work Environment
The audio team supports all studio projects (marketing, recordings, multi-projects) by combining artistic creativity with technical expertise. The team consists of about 10 people and an Audio Director.
You'll become the go-to person for all technical aspects of the BGE2 project, working at the heart of a passionate team and in full collaboration with the project's audio programmers.
You will work in Alexandre Carlotti's team
Qualifications
- Know the principles of audio physics and digital audio
- Proficiency in the use of DAW (REAPER, ProTools), use of processors (spectral, time and dynamics).
- Knowledge on recording techniques for voices, sound effects, foley, ambiences.
- Proficiency in mixing and mastering assets following loudness standards.
- Use of virtual instruments for sound design and specific plugins for special effects.
- Advanced knowledge of WWISE middleware, object based, ducking, bus structure, HDR, priorities...
- Knowledge of audio resources management in-game (memory, voices, CPU usage, etc.).
- Knowledge of visual scripting and engine functionalities.
- At least on Scripting language (python, C#,...) knowledge is needed: to make scripts for reaper, wwise, ...
- Knowledge of audio technical direction, including a solid understanding of performance constraints, technical pipelines, and multiplatform environments
What we expect from you
- You approach problems with diplomacy, always steering discussions toward concrete solutions.
- You're eager to collaborate and naturally turn feedback into opportunities for improvement. Even in complex situations, you remain engaged, present, and constructive.
- You know how to adapt your communication to your audience, explain technical topics clearly to non-technical people, and calmly and confidently reframe a situation when needed. You take the time to provide thoughtful feedback in a spirit of listening and respect. That is why a good level of French is required.
- Autonomous and proactive, you anticipate needs, propose ideas, take initiative, and know how to move things forward without constant direction. You manage your projects end-to-end with professionalism and excellence.
- You are thorough in your work: you test, verify, and seek to deeply understand rather than settling for quick fixes. You pay close attention to detail and aim for high standards in everything you deliver.
- Curious and passionate about technology, you enjoy creating small tools to streamline your work, improving pipelines, debugging independently, and collaborating effectively with technical teams. You love learning, exploring new solutions, and staying up to date with developments in your field.
- Above all, you're passionate and share your discoveries naturally, explore new approaches, and always strive to go beyond the expected. You get involved in evolving practices and take real pleasure in crafting rich, polished audio experiences.
But most importantly, you'll bring your positive energy every day
