Safety is ArcelorMittal priority one. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and recently decided to improve Process Safety Management (PSM) across the Group, covering both steel and mining. The objective is to implement best in class PSM practices to prevent industrial catastrophes (fires, explosions, etc), severe asset integrity failures or large process disruptions. An ambitious and complete roadmap has been developed and is under way. To ensure global approach in the company, procedures, trainings, overall supervision and coordination including assurance level is among others managed centrally by GCTO. To support and coordinate this global roll-out in the Group, GCTO is looking for a dynamic person to take part of this central PSM team.
So, what will you do?
The Process Safety Management is responsible for developing and coordinating Process Safety Management (PSM) activities.
As part of ArcelorMittal PSM implementation roadmap, he/she will also have to supervise and coordinate work with third parties that will support on the generation of key deliverables such as internal PSM standards, training, organisation design, and definition of minimum mandatory controls to be implemented in all ArcelorMittal.
This role aims at equipping AM with best in class PSM system and ensuring that all segments and site adopt, understand and comply with PSM standards to ensure PSM effectiveness.
This role involves the identification, analysis, and mitigation of risks associated with processes, ensuring the protection of people, the environment, and assets.
The Process Safety Management will collaborate closely with various departments including operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering, and external partners. He/She will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our safety performance.
The Process Safety Management reports to the Process Safety Management Head
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the development and implementation of a PSM system
- Oversee developments and activities of PSM consultants and third parties
- Work with process experts from GCTO, from each Segments and from each department, to apply PSM practices and reduce risk levels on a risk based approach
- Drive the process safety culture within the organization, promoting awareness and adherence to PSM practices at all levels. Be PSM ambassador in the company. Communicate and train on PSM.
- Coordinate with Segment and other functions (e.g., reliability, IT, procurement, engineering, maintenance, communication) to deliver on the PSM roadmap.
- Track process safety performance indicators and report them to senior management.
- Lead incident investigations related to process safety, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide technical leadership on process safety issues, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for teams across the company.
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments (e.g., HAZOPs, LOPA, FMEA) and implement mitigation measures to reduce process-related risks.
- Develop and deliver training programs on process safety management for employees and contractors.
- Assessment of sites' PSM readiness compared to best practices and identify major gaps
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of action plans and follow up of implementation progress of departments (along with Process and Reliability experts)
- Ensure Units push the boundaries of operational reliability & PSM
- Review progress of assigned shops in a regular and structured way
- Contribute to maintaining AM PSM standards, continually improving them and to their roll out within sites.

Travels to Luxembourg to be planned in particular for first 18 months

We want someone who's:
- Good technical knowledge of the steel making process
- An experience in Process Safety Management is a strong plus
- Reliability, Maintenance or Operation background
- Degree in Engineering or Sciences
- Fluent in English
- Open-minded change manager with good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Solid relationship management and influencing skills, coupled with written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work in a team environment and interacting with senior management (site CEOs and COOs, CTOs….)
- Willingness to travel and able to work with different cultures, be flexible and respectful
- Initiative, ownership, and accountability
- Inter-cultural skills are appreciated for interaction with units as well as other corporate departments
- Master project management follow-up tools, database, reporting tools, PSM software administration
