The Opportunity: Co-founder, Deputy CTO

We are seeking a co-founder with the deep technological experience, organizational skills, and entrepreneurial drive to help guide our early-stage B2B startup as its Deputy CTO. This is a ground-floor opportunity to lead software development, define technical architecture, and set the foundation for a high-growth SaaS platform.

Position Overview

This is a full-time/part-time, remote role. The Deputy CTO will help lead the Company's Technology Development and Operations, drive our product roadmap, and accelerate technological innovation.

You will:

• Lead the software engineering team and manage the technical life cycle of our products.
• Participate in brainstorming, overseeing product life cycle, and conducting Research & Development.
• Oversee the development of our software products in close cooperation with our CTO, Chief AI & Head of Data Science, who are responsible for the creation of our AI models (with a current focus on multimodal sincerity detection).
• Unleash the creativity of our team members and make accountability top-of-mind in a performance-oriented culture among a group of diverse and talented individuals.
• Leverage your experience with other fast-growing technology companies to help make products that users and customers love and that deliver tangible value.

Key Responsibilities

The Co-founder and Deputy CTO will lead the technological strategy and execution, including:

• Drive Technical Excellence:
  Direct technical excellence in the design and development of our product, working directly for our co-Founder & VP ENG.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  Lead and provide guidance to the software engineering team, mentor junior engineers, and share your expertise.
• Code Quality:
  Ensure high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code is delivered, upholding best practices in software engineering.
• Collaboration:
  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Chief Design, Chief Growth, and Chief AI.
• Ethical Focus:
  Maintain a genuine interest in AI and its societal acceptance, ethical, and privacy issues.
• Operations Oversight:
  Leading all Technology Development and Operations functions.

Qualifications

• Mindset:
  You are an open-minded and agile person who likes wearing multiple hats. You aren't locked into particular technologies.
• Startup Mentality:
  Startup minded: Do it today, not tomorrow (TNT).
• Experience:
  5+ years of professional experience in Software Development, IT Strategy, and Enterprise Software. Full Stack Development.
• Leadership:
  Experience (3+ years) in managing software engineering teams and overseeing product management.
• Architecture:
  Experience in designing and architecting complex software systems.
• AI Focus (Plus):
  Experience (3+ years) of voice tone & video analytics is a significant plus.
• Soft Skills:
  Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Education:
  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Mandatory:
  Must be comfortable and proficient in actively writing code until the company scales and funding allows for dedicated engineering hires.

Our Technical Stack

Our technology environment is modern, serverless-first, and highly integrated:

• Cloud Infrastructure:
  AWS services (mostly serverless): S3, API Gateway, EC2, Lambda, ECS, Batch, Route53, Cognito, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, EFS, RDS, etc.
• Data Warehousing:
  GCP (BigQuery).
• APIs:
  REST, WebSocket, OpenApi.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  
• Backend Languages:
  , Python, C#, WPF (desktop).
• Frontend Development:
  Modern SPA frameworks (currently using Angular), Bootstrap 5+.
• Type System:
  We are purely TypeScript-ers.

Compensation & Funding

• Package:
  As a startup, all co-founders, including this role, are currently compensated through
  equity only (4 years vesting)
  until the company achieves sufficient runway ("lift off").
• Traction:
  We have successfully raised a pre-seed round in Erie, PA, and participated in the prestigious FIRE big data accelerator.
