If you love the French language, clean data, and organized teams—this project is for you. We're seeking a French Transcription Team Manager to oversee a transcription project from start to finish. You'll manage people, ensure quality, and work directly with audio data through transcription, review, and data validation, earning across multiple workstreams while working remotely on your schedule.

Please note: To ensure eligibility for this project, applicants must be international freelancers. Unfortunately, we are unable to hire U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, or candidates currently residing in the U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Regular and prompt communication in English
• Monitoring team progress and performance, while ensuring timely project completion
• Providing invoices and invoicing summaries
• Assist in hiring and onboarding transcribers, while following company-established onboarding procedures
• Administering and grading language verification tests, as well as revising and enhancing tests as needed
• Training and providing support for transcribers
• During downtime, utilize the company transcription program to transcribe alongside transcribers to help the progression of the project
• Troubleshoot alongside Team Services Manager and department Operations Coordinator to resolve any issues reported by transcribers during their work, such as bad data, technical issues, etc
• Participate in data validation tasks. Data Validation is a mandatory task for Division Managers that involves "scrubbing" (quickly reviewing) new audio files before the transcription phase begins.The goal is to confirm two main points:
  
  Language Match: Ensure the audio language is correct as per the client's request.
  
  Audio Quality:Verify that the audio quality is clear enough to be transcribed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Full proficiency in the French language (ISO: fr_fr)
• This project requires participants to have their own computer
• Professional work experience in Linguistics, Translation, Transcription, or localization, strongly preferred
• Proficiency in computer and internet skills
• Competency on both MAC and PC platforms, Microsoft Applications, and G Suite
• Strong grammar, orthography, and punctuation skills; a proficiency test will be required
• Responsive with timely email access
• Effective web search skills
• Ability to onboard within two weeks
• Preferred: experience using Upwork
• English Assessment is required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Compensation as noted below:

• Management (Main Task): USD 0.50 per audio minute completed (total of all project audio minutes)
• Reviewing: USD 1.00 per audio minute reviewed (Required)
• Data Validation - USD 0.03 per utterance (Required)
• Transcription: USD 3.00 per audio minute transcribed (Optional)
• The projected project volume is currently 200 audio hours (project volume may fluctuate)
• Language verification grading - USD $15 per graded submission. The number of reviews required is to be determined and is dependent on project needs

Note: Transcription Team Manager (DMs) must participate in all three project phases: data validation, review, and management. They may also work as transcribers; if they do, they will receive transcription pay in addition to their management fees. Management compensation is paid incrementally as the team completes the assigned audio minutes.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

• Payment is due no later than 60 days from the end of the month in which the data validation, transcription, review, or division management work was completed.
• Per-unit payments are processed monthly.
• Payment Methods: We pay via PayPal, Payoneer, or Direct Bank Transfer.

Productive Playhouse covers all platform fees for PayPal and Payoneer. Please note that for Direct Bank Transfers, the $10 transaction fee is not covered and will be the responsibility of the recipient.

Please note that the pay rate is in US dollars and payment will be made in US dollars. The amount in local currency will vary according to exchange rates.
