QA Engineer Intern: AI-driven test automation

Europe's leader in Credit Scoring API, it provides financial institutions, retailers and fintech with credit decisioning tools that can be used in a variety of use cases such as BNPL, consumer credit, car subscription, mortgage and much more. We work with major players (Sofinco, Cofidis, Revolut, etc.) to improve user experience and acceptance rates while reducing the risk of over-indebtedness.

Based on Open Banking (the secure sharing of bank account data), Algoan solutions enable a cut of credit risk by up to 50% and an increase in loan production by up to 40% while lowering processing costs, and offering a seamless 100% digital pathway to credit applicants.

Today, Algoan is scaling faster than ever, driven by international expansion across Europe and the upcoming DCC2 regulation, which is accelerating demand and API call volumes at an unprecedented pace.Our Product team drives this transformation, working in squads. The Open Banking squad is responsible for our banking aggregation product, which allows loan applicants to securely share their banking history. It is from this data that we are able to calculate a credit score. The Credit Decisioning squad is responsible for our credit decisioning solution, which is based on the retrieved banking history. You will be involved in all aspects of one of the squads: strategy, execution and performance monitoring.

Main Mission

To support our growth, we are looking for a QA Engineer Intern specialized in AI-driven test automation to reinforce the quality and robustness of our products. Your mission will be to help design and execute modern testing strategies, combining classical QA best practices with innovative, AI-powered approaches.

You will join a cross-functional squad working on critical financial products used by major institutions across Europe. In close collaboration with developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, data scientists, and product managers, you will actively contribute to embedding quality throughout the entire product lifecycle while experimenting with intelligent testing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a QA Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include:

• Understand functional specifications and product requirements to define and propose relevant testing strategies, enhanced by AI-driven approaches where appropriate.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) for APIs and front-end applications.
• Develop intelligent test scripts capable of automatically detecting anomalies and optimizing test execution cycles.
• Test, evaluate, and integrate AI frameworks or models to strengthen and modernize our software validation processes.
• Collaborate closely with developers and the QA team to co-build reliable solutions and continuously improve testability.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous quality and fast feedback.
• Analyze test results, identify quality risks or regressions, and refine testing strategies accordingly.
• Share findings, learnings, and improvement ideas with the team to foster a strong quality culture.
• Participate in the squad's full product lifecycle: discovery, delivery, monitoring, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on quality and reliability.

Must-have

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent engineering school, with a focus on testing, development, or test automation.
• First professional experience through an initial internship, apprenticeship, or academic project in software development, QA, or automation.
• Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals (test strategies, test cases, defect lifecycle).
• Hands-on experience or strong interest in test automation tools such as Playwright, Cucumber, or similar frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of web and mobile application usage, including common user flows and edge cases.
• Strong analytical mindset with a genuine interest in investigating anomalies and reporting clear, actionable issues to developers.
• Team player with good communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving attitude.
• Strong interest in AI-driven or intelligent testing approaches applied to software quality.

Nice-to-have

• Exposure to AI frameworks, machine learning models, or experimentation tools applied to testing or quality analysis.
• Experience with API testing (REST, Postman, automated API tests).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, or containerized environments (Docker).
• Interest in R&D topics, test optimization, or innovative quality practices.
• Previous experience or curiosity about fintech, data-driven products, or API-first platforms.

Hiring Process

1. Introductory Call with the QA Lead (30 min)

A first discussion with Jeff (QA) to introduce Algoan, present the internship, and better understand your background, motivation, and interest in software testing and AI-driven automation.
2. Technical Test

A practical exercise focused on testing fundamentals, automation, and problem-solving, designed to assess your analytical skills and approach to quality.
3. Test Debrief with the Team

A collaborative discussion with the team to review your technical test, understand your reasoning, and evaluate how you approach test strategy, investigation, and continuous improvement.
4. Final Interview with the CTO (30 min)

A conversation with Fabrice (CTO) about Algoan's technical vision, quality culture, and how you could contribute to our products and long-term ambitions.
