Job Summary /Purpose:

  • We're searching for a highly qualified, motivated and committed Mine Planning Manager to help us maintain our mid and long mine plans in our mining operations worldwide
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in mid and long term Mine Planning, Scheduling and Mine Designing, as well operational experience in open pit mining operations and strong mining and resource estimation relevant software skills.
  • The Mine Planning Manager will prepare mine designs and provide support to the permitting department for the application process of new mines
  • The Mine Planning Manager will also prepare and present regular updates to relevant management channels.

Key tasks and responsibilites:

  • Work together with the RAC MRP team to ensure that mine plans and designs ensure resource efficiency and best practise exploitation methods with compliance to legal, environmental and internal standards and regulations. Assist in the exploration and pre-exploitation drilling program, 3D modelling and resource and reserve estimation process.
  • Prepare Mine Designs to optimize resource recovery, considering site configuration phasing, quality blending, mining sequence, geotechnical parameters and quarry safety
  • Supervise the production vs reserve model reconciliation for the RAC sites using production, aerial-drone and land survey data
  • Prepare mid-, and long-term mine plans, including life-of-mine plans and stripping programs
  • Model mine scheduling scenarios to ensure operational efficiency of the mines
  • Economic evaluation and assessment of the viability of mining projects, ensuring they are financially sound
  • Commitment to health and safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all planning operations.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding regulatory requirements and implementation in the mine designs to ensure that mining operations meet legal and environmental standards of the local legislation
  • Participation in other relevant projects as assigned

Job Specifications:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering, other relevant disciplines will be considered based on the experience level and profile of the candidate
  • Five or more years of mine planning and scheduling. Operational experience in open pit mines will be considered as advantage
  • Exposure to the geology of industrial minerals deposits and open mining
  • Proficient in 3D mining and geological modeling software, preferably Datamine (or Surpac) and LeapfrogGeo packages. Good GIS skills (qgis package)
  • Advanced knowledge of mine planning (RPM Global preferred) and scheduling software
  • Effective teamwork, organisational, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Driving Licence (cat B)
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of French will be positively considered
  • Willingness to travel across the RAC sites
