Human-Robot Interaction Research Scientist F/M

The Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) team is seeking a full-time researcher to contribute to the technical development of innovative robot behaviors within the context of HRI research. We welcome applications from experienced candidates with a strong track record as well as junior researchers with demonstrable potential.

The Human-Robot Interaction team is an interdisciplinary group comprising experts in HRI, HCI, ethnography and design. The team works with both proprietary and off-the-shelf robotic platforms, focusing on how emerging AI technologies can enhance human-robot interaction in real-world scenarios and environments.

We actively collaborate with the other teams at NAVER LABS including the teams in Korea. Our research regularly features in top-tier venues such as HRI, CHI, CSCW, and DIS and our team members hold roles on leading conference committees and journal editorial boards.

• A PhD in robotics, machine learning, HRI, HCI or related discipline.
• Proven experience in HRI projects, ideally within interdisciplinary and multicultural team settings.
• Proficiency in robotics-related software development (e.g., ROS, Python, C++).
• Practical experience implementing robotic tasks, including behavior and component orchestration as well as navigation pipelines.
• Familiarity with machine learning applications in robotics or HRI.
• Experience conducting HRI research utilizing both qualitative methods (e.g. ethnography, participatory design) and quantitative methods (e.g. preference testing, statistical analysis).
