Operations Manager — Keep Nio Robotics running, ready, and field-deployable
Position overview
Nio Robotics is building
Aru
, a general-purpose robot designed for demanding industrial tasks on steel infrastructure (de-coating, painting, welding prep, inspection, constrained-space interventions…). We're growing fast, and we need someone who makes sure
everything around the teams and the robot runs smoothly
.
As
Operations Manager
, your core mission is simple:
keep things running
.
You'll support Product Managers and VPs by anticipating needs, removing friction, and owning execution on day-to-day operations, field logistics, partner support, and import/export workflows.
If you love being the person who
sees what's missing before anyone asks
, gets it organized, and drives it to completion, this role is for you.
Your mission
- Be
proactive
: spot upcoming needs, risks, and bottlenecks, and resolve them early. - Be the
execution owner
for operational topics that support product development, demos, and partnerships. - Make
Nio Robotics
consistently
field-ready
: robot, tools, equipment, shipping, and onsite logistics.
Work & Responsibilities
Own preparation for client demos, trade shows, and field trials:
- Ensure the robot is ready, configured, and packaged.
- Prepare mission-specific material : tools, consumables, PPE, fixtures, spares.
- Organize shipping : customs paperwork, export constraints, lead times, carriers, and packaging requirements, insurance, timelines.
- Coordinate with Product Managers and technical leads to surface what must be delivered for the event : features, payload readiness, validation.
- Make sure nothing is forgotten and that execution is
closed-loop
(from planning → shipment → event → return → debrief).
Office management & day-to-day operations:
- Coordinate contractors (cleaning, security, maintenance, etc.).
- Organize office setup and improvements: installing desks, rooms, storage, tools, workshop materials.
- Ensure
safety and compliance
for anything related to machines, workshop layout, protective gear, and on-site practices. - Keep operational documentation and inventories up to date (equipment lists, access, contacts, procedures).
Support our ecosystem of partners when they need:
- Shared material shipments or loaned equipment
- Access to shared tooling (cloud, chat, accounts)
- Organizing mutual visits (on-site logistics, schedules, access, PPE requirements)
- Help maintain a clean, efficient operational interface between Nio and its ecosystem.
Skills & profile
Must-have traits:
- Proactive and self-driven
: you identify needs by yourself, gather requirements, and execute without waiting for perfect instructions. - Organized to the core
: you build checklists, track topics, and finish what you start, no loose ends. - Operational ownership mindset
: you're happy being accountable for "everything that must be ready".
Technical & hands-on aptitude:
- You're
handy
and comfortable with technical environments: workshop, tools, machines. - You can manage items around the robot: tools/payload accessories, protective equipment, safety practices, packing/rigging constraints.
- You're not afraid to get into the details when needed: what to pack, how to protect a component, what PPE is required for a given tool.
Bonus points:
- Experience with robotics, industrial hardware, field operations, events/logistics, or technical project support.
- Familiarity with shipping constraints for sensitive/valuable equipment (crates, insurance, documentation).
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams (product + engineering + leadership).
What you'll get at Nio
- A key role at the center of the company: close collaboration with Product Managers, VPs, and field teams.
- A mission-driven environment where operations directly impact product success.
- Real autonomy and ownership, you'll define and improve the operational playbook as we scale.
