To support our continued growth, we are currently looking for passionate people ready to make a difference in the following open position: Simulation Engineer M/F/X.
This position is based in our Headquarters based in Lyon (7e) and reports to the Device Development Leader.
MISSION :
- Model and analyze the behavior of components, products or systems using numerical simulation tools and math models to anticipate and optimize the performance
- Manage & execute own technical activities related to simulation within one or several projects, including multi-site scope
- Contribute to project documentation according to the NPI process for the design phase.
- Own individual projects, known as strategic initiatives: to increase the R&D skills
ACTIVITIES :
- Collect requirements and analyse data from various projects:
- Analyse the need.
- Identify technical specifications.
- Build the simulation plan for the systems/products to be assessed.
- Create simulation models:
- Model systems and/or products and select appropriate algorithms (define geometry, meshing and loading).
- Perform computerized calculations (stresses, strength, dimensions, characteristics...) for a given system, device, or product.
- Check the correlation of the simulation models with appropriate tests (make test requests to the laboratory when needed).
- Analyse the results and performance of modelled systems or products.
- Suggest and implement improvements by optimizing product shapes and structures.
- Write calculation reports.
- Investigate new numerical methods or approaches.
- Perform analytical calculations.
- Qualify numerical simulation tools when needed.
- Continuously monitor and anticipate technological developments.
- Design activities and project involvement:
- Contribute to define and generate innovative products or concepts.
- Propose simulation approaches to reduce the risks in a design.
- Technically interact with customers.
- Create reports and produce high quality design documentation.
- Participate to project reviews and share simulations activities.
- Can acts as a referee / expert in design activities.
KNOWLEDGES / EXPERIENCES:
- Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, design engineering, product design engineering or simulation engineering
- Fluent in English and French
- Knowledgeable in 3D simulation and math models
- Knowledgeable in mass production products in machinery and plastic injection
- Creative approach when problem solving
- Experience in supplier's relationship
- CAD tool SolidWorks
- FEA tools from MSC Software (Marc, Adams, Nastran…)
- Python tool
SKILLS:
- Skills in simulation and calculation
- Effective technical presentation & documentation
- Teamwork oriented, but also self-motivated
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Networking ability to support a multi-site organization and deal with organization
