Our technology combines advanced microfluidics with proprietary biological assays to deliver clinically actionable results within hours rather than weeks. The company operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment with a strong focus on translational impact.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Microfluidics Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of microfluidic systems that underpin our diagnostic platform. You will work closely with assay development, biology, and product teams to translate concepts into robust, scalable devices suitable for clinical and regulatory pathways.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop microfluidic chips and subsystems for automated sample preparation, reagent handling, and biomarker detectionPrototype and iterate microchannel designs using appropriate fabrication techniques and materialsPerform fluidic modelling and CFD simulations to optimise flow behaviour, mixing, and assay performanceBuild, test, and characterise microfluidic devices using laboratory instrumentation and microscopyTroubleshoot device performance issues and drive design improvementsCollaborate cross-functionally with biology, assay development, and systems engineering teamsSupport scale-up, manufacturability, and transfer toward production-ready designsMaintain detailed technical documentation in line with quality and regulatory expectations (e.g. ISO, IVD development)Required QualificationsBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Microfluidics, Physics, or a related disciplineHands-on experience designing and prototyping microfluidic devicesStrong understanding of microscale fluid dynamics and transport phenomenaProficiency with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks) and simulation software (e.g. COMSOL)Experience working in a laboratory environment with microfabrication or fluidic testingStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsDesirable ExperienceExperience integrating microfluidics with biological or diagnostic assaysFamiliarity with materials such as PDMS, thermoplastics, glass, or siliconExposure to automation, fluid control systems, or sensor integrationExperience working in regulated or pre-regulated environments (medical devices or IVD)Startup or fast-iteration R&D experience
