Paris, France Lemon Learning Temps plein

As an AI Product Engineer, you will design and develop features at the intersection of product, engineering and artificial intelligence.

You will not simply write specifications: you will explore solutions, build functional prototypes, work with APIs and language models, test hypotheses, and collaborate directly with developers through to production.

Your work will include:

  • AI-powered features integrated into our product;

  • internal agents and tools used by our teams;

  • automated QA and user-feedback analysis;

  • improving our product design and development processes through AI.

  • building the best roadmap

This role works directly with the executive team. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with:

  • the CTO on architecture, feasibility, delivery and technical quality;

  • the CEO on product vision and strategic decisions;

  • the COO on customer use cases, deployment and operational challenges.

With few layers of management, short decision-making cycles and a high level of autonomy, you will be expected both to understand complex problems and to build practical solutions.

Your responsibilities

Design and develop AI-powered features

  • Identify use cases where artificial intelligence can deliver genuine value to users.

  • Design features powered by LLMs, agents, and retrieval- or generation-augmented systems.

  • Build functional prototypes to validate technical feasibility and user value quickly.

  • Integrate and orchestrate AI models and services through APIs.

  • Define the prompts, tools, context sources and workflows used by agents.

  • Work with the Engineering team to turn validated prototypes into robust, maintainable and scalable product features.

Build our internal agents

  • Design and improve agents for product discovery, specification writing, QA, ticket analysis and documentation.

  • Implement evaluation mechanisms to measure the quality and reliability of their outputs.

  • Test different approaches to prompting, context management, model selection and orchestration.

  • Define the necessary safeguards for security, confidentiality, cost control and hallucination management.

  • Document technical decisions, identified limitations and appropriate conditions of use.

Ensure technical and functional quality

  • Define acceptance criteria and validation plans for new features.

  • Design and carry out functional, exploratory and automated tests.

  • Test standard scenarios, edge cases and the non-deterministic behaviours specific to AI-powered features.

  • Analyse logs, reproduce issues and work with developers to identify their root causes.

  • Track bugs through to resolution and verify the quality of fixes.

  • Help improve test coverage and QA automation.

  • Measure feature quality following production release.

Connect product and engineering

  • Understand user needs through customer feedback, discussions with Support, ticket analysis and competitor research.

  • Translate these needs into technically realistic and clearly documented solutions.

  • Produce detailed specifications, user flows, mock-ups and prototypes that the Engineering team can work from.

  • Challenge functional and technical decisions by considering value, complexity, timelines and maintainability.

  • Contribute to roadmap decisions and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.

  • Occasionally mentor an apprentice on design and prototyping topics.

What we offer

  • A stable, self-funded SaaS company with a genuine product culture.

  • A strategic position combining product, engineering and artificial intelligence.

  • Direct access to the CEO, CTO and COO.

  • Short decision-making cycles and a high degree of ownership.

  • An environment where AI is already used in practice—not merely as a talking point.

  • Dedicated time, tools and budget to experiment, prototype and measure.

  • Significant autonomy in choosing approaches and solutions.

  • A hybrid working arrangement, with three days in the office and two days working remotely.

  • Prestigious customers in France and internationally.

  • A central role involving collaboration with every team in the company, without direct line-management responsibilities.

Preferred experience

What we are looking for

  • You have a higher-education qualification in computer science, software engineering or an equivalent technical background.

  • You have between two and five years of experience in a SaaS environment, ideally as a Product Engineer, product-minded Software Engineer, AI Engineer or highly hands-on Technical Product Manager.

  • You can design and develop a functional prototype from end to end.

  • You can read, understand and modify code, and engage in in-depth discussions with an engineering team.

  • You are comfortable working with REST APIs, data formats such as JSON, version-control tools such as Git, and the general principles of SaaS architecture.

  • You can query and manipulate data using SQL or equivalent tools.

  • You are proficient in at least one language suited to prototyping or application development, such as Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.

  • You regularly use AI tools to code, design, document, test and analyse.

  • You understand how LLMs work and where their limitations lie, including context management, hallucinations, output variability, cost, latency, confidentiality and security.

  • You have already experimented with model APIs, orchestration tools, RAG systems or agents. Production experience would be a strong advantage.

  • You know how to define metrics and test datasets to evaluate an AI-powered feature beyond subjective impressions.

  • You are autonomous, thorough and able to move a project forward even when every detail has not yet been defined.

  • You have a strong product mindset and never lose sight of the user problem to be solved.

  • You are comfortable working in English, both written and spoken, with international teams, partners and customers.

What we are not looking for

This is not a traditional Product Manager position focused exclusively on roadmaps, coordination and ticket writing.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable getting hands-on with technology, building an initial solution quickly, testing its behaviour and working closely with engineers every day.

This is not a fundamental AI research role either. Our priority is to turn existing technologies into reliable, useful and deployable features.

You are likely to thrive in this role if…

  • You enjoy starting with a user problem and building the first solution yourself.

  • You can move from a product discussion to a prototype, and then from a prototype to a production-ready feature.

  • You enjoy experimenting, but would never release a solution that cannot be properly evaluated or made reliable.

  • You can challenge both product decisions and technical proposals.

  • You consider documentation, testing, observability and quality to be integral parts of development.

  • You use AI as an accelerator while maintaining a critical perspective on its outputs.

Recruitment process

  • Initial interview with our Talent Acquisition Specialist – 15 minutes
    An opportunity to get to know each other and assess the overall fit with the role.

  • Technical interview with our CTO and COO – 45 minutes
    An in-depth discussion about your experience, previous projects and approach to building technical products.

  • Technical case study
    You will design or prototype a feature powered by an LLM or agent. We will assess your product thinking, technical decisions, ability to build and approach to quality.

  • Interview with our Head of HR – 15 minutes
    A discussion about your expectations, preferred working environment and contractual requirements.

  • Final interview with our CEO – 15 minutes
    A final conversation to ensure mutual alignment on the vision, the role and how we would work together.
