Job Title: QC Welding & Structural Inspector

We ARE looking for a QC Welding & Structural Inspector to act as a Resident Inspector for a long-term project in Saint-Nazaire, France. You will oversee quality inspections and controls related to welding and structural fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable specifications, standards and norms. The role requires significant experience in yard-based quality inspection, preferably within the offshore industry.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality inspections and controls related to welding and structural fabrication activities.
  • Monitor welding and fabrication activities in accordance with approved ITPs, procedures and project specifications.
  • Verify compliance with applicable welding procedures, drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Witness and surveil inspection, testing and quality activities throughout the fabrication process.
  • Review welding and fabrication documentation, inspection records and relevant certificates.
  • Monitor identification and traceability of materials, welds and fabricated components.
  • Identify, document and report defects, deviations and non-conformities.
  • Participate in QC meetings, site inspections, joint walks and NCR reviews.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and ensure quality issues are properly addressed.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders regarding quality requirements.
  • Travel to other project locations as required by the project.
Requirements / Your Profile:
  • Mandatory: 8–10 years of relevant experience for a Senior profile or 10–15 years for an Expert profile.
  • Mandatory: Significant experience in quality inspections and controls within a shipyard/yard environment, preferably in the offshore industry.
  • Specialized and qualified experience in welding and structural fabrication.
  • Relevant welding, structural fabrication or inspection certification, qualification or professional recognition.
  • Experience working on EPCI contracts.
  • Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
  • Strong knowledge of welding and structural fabrication quality requirements, inspection processes and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as a Resident Inspector and communicate effectively with multiple project stakeholders.
  • Validity of qualifications and certifications must be verifiable, with supporting evidence provided prior to commencement.
  • Knowledge and strong experience in corrosion and coating/painting inspection would be a strong asset.
  • Preference for candidates based locally or within a reasonable distance of Saint-Nazaire, France.

Location: Les Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Saint-Nazaire, France – onsite, with travel as required
