As part of the Financial Crime Risk department of HSBC Continental Europe, you’ll develop strong expertise in the analysis and management of financial crime risks while supporting the Business in its growth strategy. If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you What you will do: The HSBC Bank Continental Europe (HBCE) Compliance Department includes Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance activities. The Financial Crime Risk department defines the rules and controls used to detect, deter and prevent financial crime risks, and oversees compliance with Group and HBCE requirements. The Continental Europe Financial Crime Advisory team reports to the HBCE Head of Financial Crime for the European Union. The team supports Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), including CIB Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory, and Markets and Securities Services activities. Its role is to help prevent and manage financial crime risks by embedding rules and controls, providing day-to-day advice and supporting business growth in line with internal requirements. Based in Paris, the team works closely with Compliance teams across the ten HBCE branches and subsidiaries, as well as with Financial Crime teams at HSBC’s headquarters. In this role you will:
• Provide proactive Financial Crime risk stewardship and credible challenge to the First Line of Defence, strengthening risk decisions and control outcomes
• Ensure the control framework remains robust and aligned with regulatory expectations, internal standards and market practice
• Embed policy requirements through effective issue management and strong partnerships with Risk and Control Owners
• Lead large and moderately complex projects, coordinating stakeholders and driving disciplined execution
• Provide specialist compliance advice and practical, risk-based solutions to support sound business decisions
• Conduct targeted control reviews and support audit and assurance activity, ensuring timely remediation and clear supporting evidence
• Promote a consistent Financial Crime compliance approach across Continental Europe through leadership and awareness activities
• Engage with French financial services industry forums, monitoring key themes and supporting internal alignment where relevant You should apply if you have:
• Strong knowledge of French financial crime regulatory requirements
• Solid experience in Compliance or risk management, ideally within Corporate and Institutional Banking
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to review and synthesise significant volumes of data
• A proactive mindset, sound judgement and a collaborative approach
• A background in law, consulting, Compliance or financial services, with a Master’s degree in Law, Compliance, Business or a related discipline
